A Pokémon animated special will be aired in Japan next week, titled Pokémon XY: The Strongest Mega Evolution Act 1, the Pokémon Company has announced.

 

The special will focus on a trainer named Alan, as he travels through Kalos, taking on every kind of Mega-Evolved Pokémon and trying to beat each one. You can watch a teaser trailer for it above.

 

Pokémon XY: The Strongest Mega Evolution Act 1 will air on TV Tokyo on April 3rd. It will run for 30 minutes, from 7 – 7:30 pm.

I'm really glad that the Pokemon Company is making some specials that aren't boring Ash adventures anymore. It's awesome to see them focusing on the older audience, too. I wish they'd have a whole series for us older fans, though... Oh well, this looks great!

I love Serebii for keeping me informed on this Special for about a month now.  To be honest though, I find this entire concept fairly unappealing.

With all honesty, I still find the whole concept of mega evolutions as a really unnecessary gimmick, especially now that pokemon like Mawile or Absol can never get true evolutions because Game Freak decided they just *had* to get some bullshit super forms, even though they clearly had no problems giving some pokemon new evolutions in Gen 2 and 4.Anyway, I'm probably gonna pass on this. I passed on Origins when I found out about the Mega Charizard X whoring, so well yeah. lol

I love Mega Evolutions, but mostly just Shiny Mega Gardevoir and Shiny Mega Mewtwo Y. I rarely use megas myself, but I like the few I use.

 

As for an entire story about a character whose only purpose is to find every mega evolution out there...well, it just sounds unnecessary all on its own. Origins was pretty good, though there were a lot of parts where I would get irritated, especially when it came to Prof. Oak. I'm still quite irritated with the English version calling Green, Blue.
