Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (????? ??? 3D [???? ???? ??????]) is an upcoming Kingdom Hearts game for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is the next major release of the series, and will feature Sora and Riku in a previously unthought of environment. The secret ending of Re:coded is a preview for this game, as the Mark of Mastery test for Sora and Riku is set to take place in this game.

 

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance has been confirmed for a release in North America and Australia.

 

Development

 

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance was originally announced at E3 2010, where it was announced for the Nintendo 3DS. Later it was featured at Nintendo World 2011 where the first footage of the game was released. And more recently at Square Enix's 1st Production Department Premiere event the game's full name 'Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance' was announced along with the release of the game's first trailer. Dream Drop Distance will be featured at E3 2011.

The story will be a sort of mystery.

Nomura has stated that the theme is "trust"

As with the games theme you will grow, along with the playable characters/characters in the game. (Nomura said the characters of the game, but the way he worded it implys he means the playable characters in Single player. But the latter one is his own words, so i'd probably go with that) Despite Sora being one of the protagonists in the game it is not him you will realize the growth by, but someone else.

You will be able to play the main characters, Sora and Riku at different times in the games. Not like in Birth by Sleep and Chain of memories where you got to pick the characters you want to play as one at a time. Instead you will play them back in fourth in the game.
