FINAL FANTASY XI makes so much sense on PlayStation 3 but despite so many times it would have made sense to port the PC version to PS3 they didn't. 2007 would have been very logical and 2010 would have made sense too, but Square Enix instead continued to release it on PlayStation 2 in Japan going as far as to make it the final PS2 game in Japan. And there are various problems with that, obviously the PS2 version is dead outside of Japan, it's only in SD and it's a pain to connect the PS2 to the Internet but the main problem is that it's likely to become the only main series FINAL FANTASY game not playable on modern PlayStation hardware. Sure they could emulate it on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita eventually but it would be still be plagued by the PS2's method of playing online. And it doesn't make any sense to release it now since FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn is available on PS3.
