Hey everyone, how's it going? As you all know, I'm a big fan of the Assassin's Creed series, as it is one of my many favorite video game franchises. I've loved the experiences I've had with these games, but well, now, I'm starting to fear that the franchise is plummeting to the Call of Duty route of franchise fatigue. This doesn't mean I don't like the franchise anymore, but you know, after Assassin's Creed III, I really couldn't see another game being made, and well, I figured since Desmond's story was over, the series would end. Black Flag was released last year, and although I've heard great things about the game, I haven't gotten the motivation to buy it. The game looks stunning and fun to play, but I really don't have an interest in having it for now. And now there are two more Assassin's Creed games on the way, and I'm starting to wonder if the franchise will evetually die out.
I mean, don't get me wrong, the games are awesome, but they should at least take a two year gap between releases, that way we'll be hungry for a new installment, while not feeling like its: "Oh, another Aassassin's Creed game." It's impressive how they get games like these out yearly, but Ubisoft should really take their time and expand on new franchises or make installments for old beloved franchises. I don't know, I just got mixed feelings about the Assassin's Creed series now. To be honest, the best part of the Assassin's Creed lore is Ezio's story, as I found it to be the most engaging, as we saw how the transition between child, adolescent and adult played out. With Connor in Assassin's Creed III, I don't know, Connor's life was told a bit rushed in my opinion. But well, that's just my opinion. Anyways, I love the Assassin's Creed series, but I fear that the games may suffer the Call of Duty franchise fatigue symptom. (I know the Call of Duty games always have good sales, but what I mean by franchise fatigue is the fact that with each new installment they don't do much to improve the multiplayer setting, and if they do add things, they are only very minor. The only Call of Duty game I have is Black Ops, and I don't think I'll buy another Call of Duty anytime soon.)
And before you say: "But Kingdom Hearts has yearly releases too!", remember that Nomura always changes up the gameplay. ALWAYS. That's what I like the most about him. He's willing to take chances and experiment with different play styles, for better or for worse. Each Kingdom Hearts game has something fresh to it, not to mention excellent storytelling. Well then, enough about my opinions, what do you all think of the current state of affairs of some video game franchises you think should take a two year rest between releases? And what do you think of the way they release the games in general?
