At this point, we've yet to find out whether or not VS is actually canon like Xemnas and the Lingering Sentiment, or if he's just been color swapped to create a new enemy for the sole purpose of having a difficult optional boss.

 

Sentiments are feelings and emotions. It is possible that Vanitas had left some behind, but in this case, the question is how. Unlike Terra and Aqua, he left nothing behind as a shell for these sentiments to act through. VS just appeared in the same way Vanitas himself was created.

Vaniitas sentiment is NOT part of the kh story. He is just another extra boss that nomura decided to put in. Just like the extra bosses in kh1. I mean kurt zisa, ice titan, phantom, and the other bosses were just extra optional bosses, but they weren't part of the story. Nothing more, nothing less.

I mean kurt zisa, ice titan, phantom, and the other bosses were just extra optional bosses, but they weren't part of the story. Nothing more, nothing less.

 

Optional bosses and secret bosses are two different things. Vanitas Sentiment is a secret boss, Kurt Zisa, Ice Titan, etc were just put in the game for a challenge. It could be just like the LS, people didn't think it was canon until they saw the secret movie for KH2FM. And you don't know what Nomura put him in for, so when you say stuff like that don't state it as a fact.

 

 

Note: All optional bosses take place during the main game, the secret bosses appear after certain conditions are met or after the game is beaten. Remember that.
