So a friend of mine is in a... "complicated" relationship. Kind of a masochistic romance you could almost say. He has this thing for a girl he's friends with, but she isn't the nicest person in the world. Every now and then, he tells me times when he really got on her nerves, and she'd lash out on him, and the next day, he couldn't remember it clearly, if at all.

Thoughts?

Couldn't remember, or didn't feel like remembering?

Said he couldn't remember. Whatever he could seemed fuzzy or dream-like.

And is he having trouble remembering anything else, or is it strictly related to these arguments?

Just the arguments, as far as I know.

He probably just tries to forget those arguments .

Fuzzy or dream like those be the words of someone who sounds as if they were either drunk or drugged at the time they are attempting to recall

Ha! Certainly makes sense. He's underage and I doubt that was the case.

(Sorry just popping in)Well, some ppl sometimes block the arguments from their mind and they won't remember much. Very few ppl are able to do that. I can do that every once in a while, because I didn't care for the argument. So I cant really think of anything else how he couldn't remember it. In less someone drugged his drink or he had trauma to the head before or after the argument.

Or the argument was the trauma?

Yeah true. After trauma, ppl tend to forget things. Maybe that is what's happening with your friend. I'm hoping I'm helping more than worrying you.

No, this makes total sense. I think. I might just be watching to much anime with amnesiacs, but I do think things are starting to come together, and my friend's going to be okay.

If it continue's to get worse. Just tell him to consult a doctor, or try to get in contact with his parents if it happens with more and more things. But you're right, I think he's gonna be okay. It could be just a phase he's going through. Depending how old he is, could deal with something about Hormones or something.

I don't believe your friend is suffering from any kind of true memory loss. I believe he is adopting this story as an attempt to convince others and himself that somehow nothing is wrong in the relationship. It's essentially self delusion so as to avoid facing the real problem of whether or not this is a good situation he is in.
