Oh man, am I in trouble...

Long story short, Dad screwed up my PS2 and now I can't play any games! You know that screen before it gets to the game with the little blue balls of light? We can't get past that screen no matter how long we wait. We tried pressing the X button to get into the menu but it said "Disc read error".

My dad is out golfing right now but he said we had better get the PS2 working for when he comes home, so anyone got any suggestion? I'm all out of ideas.

I swear the thing shines from all the cleaning I've done -_-u I think I'll bring it into either the Pawn Shop or the Sorce as soon as I get back home thanks for all the suggestions

ok have fun

My PS2 broke the same way, it would refuse to read disks eventually. How long have you had this PS2?

The problem with mine was that the little reading devise became a little dislodged due to years of overuse and it couldn't read disks because it wasn't at the right distance from the disks it was supposed to read, if that makes sense.

If you've had it for a long time ,wear and tear is bound to happen. :

Same thing happened to my PS2. Try opening up the back and cleaning it out carefully. PS2s can be fixed. Mine was once in the washer and it was fixed.

In the washer? May I ask how that happened? 'Cuz ps2 are kinda big...can't put them in there by accident...can you? O.o

Yeah it is a reallly old game system had since... I don't know 98 maybe? I just know that it's old

Well my DSi wouldn't let me past that little screen you get when you first turn it on, no matter what I did. I took it to GameStop and the guy messed with it for a bit, and when he gave it back, it worked perfect! So I guess just try asking wherever you bought it.

Just like some said, open it up and clean it. My PS2 was almost drenched in dust, it was so disgusting. However, after cleaning it and all, the games started working smooth again.
