How Can I Get Into Fire Emblem?

Posted

I REALLY want to get into the Fire Emblem series! the only game i have is sacred stones for gba and i only have it becouse of the ambasador program for the 3DS. ive tried to play it but it just didnt engross me like i wanted it too. the fire emblem series seems like something i would BEYOND like. ive always had a problem with digital titles so maybe thats it. maybe i just need to get awakening which i REALLY want. but i'm asking all the fire emblem fans. what is the best game to start with? if youre saying that maybe im just not a fire emblem person then maybe youre right but i want to become one. i truly REALLY want to like this game and im asking you how.

Personally, I so far find Sacred Stones easily one of the best, but if you really wanna get into the seties, Awakening is easily one of the best games the series has.

I can't get into the series, personally. The gameplay puts me off.

The anime, however, is pretty kick-ass.

It's only based off of the third game, but it's still pretty cool. Plus, the VA for Marth in this is the same guy in Super Smash.

I had the same problem until I played Path of Radiance and Radiant dawn,I'm not sure why though, maybe because it was a 3D game or maybe its because I like Ike so much in SSBB,but to me Path of Radiance was a lot easier to get into then the other Fire emblem games and because I had so much fun with those 2 games,I was able to go back and play Fire emblem on GBA.

I've only ever played Fire Emblem Awakening, so maybe I have no room to talk. But as someone who was completely new to the series before playing it, I'd REALLY recommend it.

I've gotten so many hours of joy out of that game. It's also just really great for beginners to the series.

Awakening is honestly the best newb-friendly game with the no-death clause option. I would recommend either that one or Blazing Sword (e.g. the one we got localized as literally "Fire Emblem") just because of the extensive tutorial that also has a character death safety net for the first third of the game. Shadow Dragon is a bit archaic, but it's pretty accessible as well. Any of those three are good places to start.

Whatever you do, though, don't start off with Radiant Dawn. It's unanimously agreed across the fanbase that it has a reverse difficulty curve where the first part of the game is significantly harder compared to the other parts.

thanks. but if im gonna play fire emblem, im gonna play it with perminent death on. if i dont do that then i will just feel like the point of fire emblem is defeated and also that i dont like taking the easy mode in games.

I didn't mean to sound like I was degrading you or something, believe me Fire Emblem is incredibly hard enough as it is that I couldn't fault anyone for wanting something more forgiving. I should have mentioned too that the no-death thing is mutually exclusive with the actual difficulty settings, so you can still play on the hardest difficulty without worrying about restarting the chapter because some bullshit happened like an enemy criticals on you with a 20% hit chance. Again, it's not really a handicap, but something that makes the difficulty curve easier to settle into. Of course you don't really need to start off with it, but I'm glad the option exists.

dont worry. i didnt think you wre degrading me. sry if i made it sound like that. i just feel that fire emblem sounds like a game that was meant to be played with perminant death. and i am also glad the option exist! :)
