Isamu Kuno 2,512 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) Okay so ever since that fake IMBD article that listed Kuzco's VA for KH III I've been thinking how much better the plot of Kingdom of the Sun would have fit in KH if it hadn't become The Emperor's New Groove. And that made me wonder which version people would prefer to have been released if given the choice. Now, for the sake of objectivity, let's pretend for a moment that it's 1998/99, we've never heard of KH (a terrible world I know but bear with me) and we are on the production staff of Kindom of the Sun and faced with the decision to release it in it's original form or turn it into The Emperor's New Groove. Since most of us know the plot of The Emperor's New Groove I will detail Kingdom of the Sun. A musical with songs written and performed by Sting in which the Sorceress Yzma blames the sun for stealing her youth and so attempts to summon the Incan God of Darkness, Supai to swallow the sun and cloak the world in eternal darkness and in exchange gain eternal youth. Meanwhile the greedy, selfish Emperor Kuzco happens to meet a peasant that looks just like him and they switch places for one day (a la The Prince and the Pauper) Ysma learns of the switch and, in order to prevent either of them from interfering with her plan, turns the real Kuzco into a Llama and threatens the expose the peasant's impersonation (as well as likely pinning the Emperor's disappearance on him which would obviously result in a death sentence) unless he does exactly as she tells him While a llama, Kuzco learns humility and falls in love with a female llama herder (hey, it's Disney) Presumably, Yzma and Supai are defeated Kuzco becomes human again marries the llama herder (again, Disney) and becomes a kinder, wiser and more generous emperor. A few things to note Pacha is absent as he replaced the Kuzco look-alike Kronk is also absent and Yzma is instead assisted by three mummies named Mick, Bowie and Lemmy The film is more of a drama than a comedy. So, knowing all this if you had to make the final call between Kingdom of the Sun and The Emperor's New Groove, which would you have made? As much as i like Kronk, I'd have to go with Kingdom of the Sun because of the classic Disney feel. Kingdom Of Me 171 Posted June 17, 2014 I was like, "Yeah, yeah Thats sounds so cool" until I read "Kronk is absent..." "Nope, nope, nope" In all seriousness though, that is not going to happen. One because no one knows kingdom of the son, because although it was a story, it was never released by Disney so it is not a Disney movie. People won't know what is going on with the same names and world, but different story, also they'd be confused to why there are two Kuzcos and no Pacha. Also no Pacha. Also no Kronk......Also no Kronk.
Oli 1,679 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) I had no idea about the "Kingdom of the sun" until now and in my opinion, Kingdom of the Sun would work better for Kingdom Hearts III. I didn't like The Emperor's new groove as a comedy, I feel it should have been a drama instead. EDIT: This is so Kingdom Hearts Edited June 17, 2014 by Japayork
Wateraptor 37 Posted June 17, 2014 I think that The emperors new groove's plot is more original than the Kingdom of the sun's one.The second one surely fits better in Kingdom Hearts III, but as a movie the first one wins. However The emperors new groove isn't even in my top ten of favourite disney movies.

EDIT: This is so Kingdom Hearts Actually, it was precisely that song that inspired me to make this thread. And why can I imagine Master Xehanort singing this (while swapping out gender-specific words of course) Oh, right. He's also scary beyond all reason. Also, I feel like this is Chernabog's jam. 1 Oli reacted to this
Firaga 5,947 Posted June 20, 2014 (edited) Let's see, original material or Disney made product... I'm going with the more realistic choice because realism. And by that I mean TENG. Edited June 20, 2014 by Firaga Sensei
