At four points around the mountain known as Evraius the Teragren captains went over the situation once more to be sure there was no confusion; this was a volunteer mission, there was a high risk of death, and once the climbers passed the Teragen gates onto the premises of Evraius they were no longer under the protection of the Teragren army, and nobody would help but the rest of their team members.Of the 19 volunteers that passed the test to be accepted into the Evraius mission there were now four teams, each of 4 or 5 people. The army had brought them to the four gates that separated Evraius from the Kingdom of Teragren. The strategy was that they may be more effective if they could split the Kamyn attention and thus have a better survival rate. Now the four teams sat at their respective gates, facing the world changing mountain that would be their future; Evraius. The teams were split up in the following ways:Gold Team, made up of Drale Vay, Amber Dolor, Cornelius Bastion, and Sandrew.Silver Team, made up of Sonya Bishop, Kinzoku Mors, Averain, and Jasper SummersIron Team, made up of Alice Thornsberry, Emert Berger, Morgan Etiam Vinctum, and Doctor Pellinore WartropPlatinum Team, made up of Apollo, Lance Alburght, Varion Hain, Fairy, Aya Kozakura, Sairi KozakuraEach of the gates rumbled opened painfully and slowly, with a history of destruction and cruelty beyond their metal bars."Okay." Each captain spoke to the respective teams as they mounted their horses once again and steered back toward the road."You all have 5 minutes to greet your new teammates and enter the gates. The magical locks will automatically close them again after that point. There won't be any returning until you have something substantial to return with." The gist of each captain's parting words were. They had all rehearsed together so the information would be similar for each group. It also helped mask the fear. And then each group was left alone, each with a gate and a beaten dirt path beyond it sitting before them. It was time to start the introductions and get going. It was time to start the climb.Watching every gate through spectral projections, Adriev pondered. He stood in a pure white room with 5 others. After watching the four teams for a few moments he turned to his peers: Efenton, Girver, Dante, and Vortimer. Only one was missing."So..." He spoke slowly, weighing every word. "What shall we do about this?"

"Adriev!" The Other voice said. "Are you mad!? Our project was to save lives, not recreate anothe-" recording hiss."world!! Your daughter was down there! My wife too, you b-static-tard!! I knew long times like these could make you crazy, but this? This is insanity!!! You plan to enslave humanity? YOU THINK YOURSELF GOD!!!?" Blaring sirens could be heard, as well as the screams of people... "I'll kill you!" The man said, the sound of an object being drawn. "DAMN YOU CAPTAIN!!! Damn you to hell!!"

"Father?" A voice cried through the recording, one of a seemingly panicked Efenton. "Father?"

Outwardly, the new Kamyn cared not of what was transpiring. The explosion, all of it...death...death was part of life. Life she was unable to enjoy. At first she did. Then the years went by. She had no one to love anymore. No purpose.

To the man screaming, death was horrible.

To Sanya, death was a gift. One that made life worth protecting.

But inwardly, she was embroiled in turmoil. She never had done killing as such. Not for such...a trivial reason...not because she thought of herself as god.

And as her feelings inside, as things warmed, Serafine left her friend and went out. And as soon as she was out of sight of Evraius, she began a massive firebird that dominated the sky. She flew fast, from Evraius and back.

And once back with Sanya, was silent.

The golem recoiled from the three cylinders, but was quick to return to fighing form. As the spider struck it the golem, without even seeming to recognize Murial having stabbed her sharp front legs into it's torso, grabbed one with it's left arm, and with it's right struck coldly, swiftly, and brutally at it's body with it's icy and jagged arms.

Fire also roared from it's head, and veered directly for Emert as well....

"These games are meaningless!"

Adriev's arms both formed into blades and he sped towards a group of the duplicates and slashed at them viciously, tearing into them.

"Captain..." as Adriev spoke the sound of a blade slipping into flesh was heard. "....is no longer my title."

"We left Earth with a purpose. To create a new life for humanity. To escape the war so that our race might survive. Nanomachines and their many uses, medicinal, cruel, war-like, mind-altering... are the bane of our existence. Technology we know it-" The blade slipped further in and the other man began to choke on his own blood. "-has doomed us. I- we were tasked with piloting a simple seed ship, giving human new life. Life away from the hell we created on Earth with our own ambition and foolish dreams of transcendence. We were given that power. We are the ones to decide. You have proven yourself incapable of choosing, so I have made the choice for you, and found others who can do the same."

The blade slipped out and the other man fell to the ground and continued slowly choking out his last breaths.

"Our nanomachine stores have already been leaked onto the planet. But once I wipe the memory of everyone in cryo-stasis they will have no idea what these powers do. There will be no temptation to use them to destroy a whole planet again, because nobody will understand how. They will think themselves magical, but not all-powerful, as those on Earth did. Think on that, as you choke out your dying breaths as a mortal man. I can save humanity. I can make sure we never get so close to our own destruction again. I'm sorry, I truly am, that it came to this. But hesitance here will only doom us again."

The boy had then entered the room, and Adriev picked him up. "Efenton, you foolish child, this isn't a place for kids." A swirling sound was heard, and then the light breaths of the child as he slept.

"That's what our technology can do. Trillions of tiny micro-machines swirling in the air, attaching themselves to human hosts for a variety of uses. I can put my son to sleep in an instant with a wave of my hand, isn't it awe-inspiring... and frightening? Don't worry, I, and those I have chosen to help me, will be sure humanity stays safe."

He placed Efenton on a nearby chair and walked over to his co-captain.

"We will be the gods of this new humanity. We can use the Evraius's reactors to boost our nanomachines and act as gods of the world, using fear to keep these people safe from themselves. If they are too scared to wonder, then their wondering will never lead to pain. If they believe it is magic, perhaps they shall never have the cold ambition our people did, perhaps they shall be spiritual, kind, understanding."

Adriev went through the process of opening the cryo-stasis chambers- the hundreds of thousands of them on the seed ship Evraius. Footsteps were heard. It was impossible to tell from the recording but they were of some familiar people- Vortimer, Griver, Ryu....

"Sleep peacefully, my fellow captain. For now I will become a god, of fear, yes, but a god that will be sure that humanity never returns to the dark times of moving beyond our abilities to maintain our own safety..."

"Both us captains die today. And I return... as a Kamyn."

"Now that you know." He said, looking at the ones there. "Are you happy? Does this enlighten you? I have always wanted to know what would happen..."

"Both us captains die today. And I return... as a Kamyn."

Sandrew, after cleaning himself up a little, listened intently. "...if I understand right... these nanomachine thingies are what fuel our magic, right...?" Sandrew asked. "If it is, and that is what makes Kamyn super powerfull, too, dosent this mean we could be as strong as them, too?"

"um....hum....ahhh....okay ya I'm not exactly sure how to respond to this hum so in the end magic doesn't exist instead its some machine doing all that work for us but then..." turning his attention to his blade Tristan grew slightly confused "So these nanomachine things are suppose to be responsible for creating magic or what we thought was magic that part i think i get but if the nanomachines create magic then whats up with my sword it doesn't use magic it cancels it out  so does that make my sword an anti nanomachine?" quickly scratching his head in confusion as to what was after being shown to him

"Yes." Efenton said to both of them. "Your weapon might be one of the best weapons we have." He then looked at Sandrew. "You could, but... After hearing what happend to earth... Would you? Do you think that since I chose this group, you prove yourself exempt of corruption?"

"Woah." Jasper said, too stunned to say anything profound. "How long ago was this recorded?" he asked while he processed the information he'd been given. On one hand, the fact that so many people were capable of so much power scared him, but on the other hand, lying and oppressing an entire planed wasn't exactly something he was okay with.

Meanwhile, Amber thought about all of the horrible people she'd met on her travels, including her own mother. If any of them knew what they were truly capable of, they'd likely cause horrific carnage and chaos. But where the Kamyn any better than them? She needed time to think and hear what the others thought.

"Eons ago...Is what It feels like..." He said. "Father had erased some of my memories before I woke up on this planet..." He Looked at them. "What...What am I?" he said to himself. "I've asked myself that many a time..."

Ferro~~~~~

Ferro's face became impassive as he listened. "Does this mean my friends. . . are they also made of nanobots?" he asked, referring to Chips, Birgitte, and Vell. Not a word came from any of those three, but a sort of stunned impression. "And another thing. I'm missing one. An artifact, I mean, like my friends. A suit of plate mail. Could it be here?"

looking to his blade for a moment an image of Tristan's mother appeared memories of a women who was nothing but loving and happy all the time appeared in Tristan's mind until it was suddenly shattered by the image of the disaster caused by the Kamyn the disaster that killed Tristan's mother "Efenton..." Tristan called Efenton by his name for the first time over calling him a Kamyn "I need to know something Adriev more then likely while waiting over us from this mountain spotted those who would be a great treat to us all those who might of realized the truth on there own and who would of done nothing but bad from knowing the truth Adriev wiping people like that i can understand but... but why those huge disasters caused by the Kamyn the disasters the wiped out even the young and innocent those who never even had a chance to live those who still had so much to live for why why did the Kamyn cause them? I need to know that much no matter what"

"You heard the tape.." He said, looking at Tristain. "A 'god of fear' in his mind need not care for the smarts of others, as he believes he is fit to rule, and those smarter than him can hurt him, and ruin the perceived balance he had. He could spare no expense..." He said, looking at them all. "He must use disasters as fear tactics.  To keep others docile and malleable."

"Yes." Efenton said to both of them. "Your weapon might be one of the best weapons we have." He then looked at Sandrew. "You could, but... After hearing what happend to earth... Would you? Do you think that since I chose this group, you prove yourself exempt of corruption?"

"It's not that... it's just..." Sandrew looked away from Efenton. "They're so strong. They hurt us. They kill us. They want us to fear them for the thought that it will keep us who they don't kill safe, but... if we're not allowed to grow and prove ourselves good enough, then how dose that help either? Few are good enough for power like that, but there are those who are and... I think that keeping the ones truly deserving and able to use it to help out of fear the wrong person can get it will only slow us down, cause us to be angry, resentful, and want to challenge what out protectors want to do for us: keep us safe...." Sandrew looked back over to Efenton. "I'm afraid of them, I want to be safe, but even still, I can't imagine just letting them kill any more people because they fear us growing too strong for our own good. I'm weak. I'm afraid..." He shivered. "...I don't know if any of us are worth being that strong... but..." in the back of Sandrew's head, memories flashed around, daring across the back of his eyes.A small, nearly completely burnt out home. Embers and charing marks can be seen peppered across the small wooden frame of his home reflected in the eyes of Sandrew, his mom's burning corpse was mostly sitting under the colapsed roof of his home. The smell of sulfur burned his eyes as he could not do anything but wail. He screamed, cried, but that did little. After he tuckered himself out, he fell unconcious near the burning frame of his home. A few days later, he woke back up, the pile of ashes that was once his bed, his roof, and his mother were slowly and lightly blown away by the gentle breeze of the plains they lived on before. A slow-moving rain cloud passed over the area, a sprinkle from the clouds steamed off the still hot stones from the floor and roofing tiles, washing away the last remains of the fire from a few nights ago. Sandrew, in dirty, wet clothing, cried again, wailing like a young child."...I cannot and will not let anyone else get killed for no reason..."

(You have no idea just how much I want to make a MGR:R joke here.)

Drale picked up his shadow, and let it flow through his hands. "So, these nanomachines have somehow given me the ability to control shadows? I wonder how that even works." he pondered out loud. "Well, you know what they say. Power corrupts. Absolute power, corrupts absolutely. That would explain what has happened with Adriev, wouldn't it? What is more powerful than a god? I wonder how much of this he is doing for what he considers our own good. But still, I must wonder. What does this." he said, as he pulled out his watch again, "have to do with me? Until I can answer that, I shall not be happy." When Sandrew had finished speaking, Drale replied, "And neither shall I. Too many people have died because of the Kaymn, and I shall not increase that number."

listening to Efenton's explanation Tristan tightened his grip on the hilt of his blade "A god of fear huh i title that suits Adriev more then anyone a god so consumed by his own fear that he fears that which he should not" Taking a deep breath in and out a composed and sure looked filled Tristan's face "If this is how things are i see the path i now need to take the children of this world have suffered long enough under the reign of someone who fears them for no reason it's time for the human race to stand together and choose our own future together not have it decided and laid out by a single...MAN Adriev is just a single man no one man should have all that power it may end up causing damage along the way but that power should be shared with everyone its not a power of one its a power of all" pushing the tip of his blade into the ground infront of him Tristan stood firm

Varion:

So that was it? Magic was nothing but science, and these 'gods' weren't gods at all, but humans who had used some sort of technology to enhance themselves. Varion glanced down at his hands and frowned. His alchemy was derived from that? It was sort of ironic that a magic used for science was nothing but science after all.

"This is fairly....mind blowing.." Varion murmured before shaking his head. Was that how his newfound power was passed on so easily? More of these machines were passed on to him?

"To think that this mountain...is a space ship."

Emert:

He stared down the Golem as the fire blasted for him.

Emert's armor was forged from the finest materials and metals known to their kind. His armor was resistant to the elements, but of course there wasn't much insulation to protect the soft body from within from the blazing heat.

Not scared by this blast of fire, Emert held back his blades. The fire was getting closer...increasingly hotter as the distance shrunk between him and the flames. With another roar, Emert brought the blades forward with amazing strength--said blades emitting powerful beams of energy that cut through the fire. Emert kept doing this, hoping it was deter the fire and that some of his attacks would in some way damage the Golem.

Fairy closed her eyes. "I don't know anything......nothing anymore.....else thing is a lie.."She sighed. "What is the point of hiding the truth?! Isn't that just going to cause events to happen again? Hell. We can't tell about anything that happened here...it'll just cause...I don't know...mass slaughter? I guess it doesn't matter how many times you start over." She rubbed her temples. "At least I know the truth...I'm not sure if I'm happy about it. I feel weaker than ever now. "

"What matters right now... "He said to everyone "Is not about the powers origins. It's what we do with it in these next moments that will  count."

"As true as that maybe, I have always wondered about my powers. With an explanation like this... I just need to know more! I'm convinced this pocket watch is somehow connected to it. The mystery behind is has been driving me crazy! I shall not rest until I learn its secret!" Drale shouted, sounding different from his regular self. He then took a deep breath, and added, "I... apologize for that outburst. It's just that with all of the things that have been going on, and all the revelations that have been made, I have yet to learn anything about my pocket watch. I have had it for as long as I can remember, but I have never had the courage to open it. I fear what may happen should I open it, and yet, paradoxically, I feel compelled to learn more about it. Having just woken up with it one day, exactly one year ago, with no memories prior, it has always intrigued me. You must understand, for this past year, my goal has been to learn about this watch. And now, I feel like I'm so close... and yet so far!" He said, getting a bit flustered, even after his deep breath. "However, it seems like the best choice is to continue this ascent, to see where it ends up. With any luck, I'll finally accomplish my goal." he finished. After that, he sat back down, and started to write a bit in his book.

Jasper raised an eyebrow, "Effington, what is it exactly you're proposing?" he asked the Kamyn, liking where this was going. He'd come here for the truth, and finally he had it. Now, it was time for him to act on this truth. Adriev may have thought what he was doing was right, but Jasper was convinced it wasn't, and knew that the chief Kamyn needed to be stopped.

"I know that the nanomachines do have a area somewhere in or around the area of this building." He said, looking at them. "It is why mag- the machines are so powerful. I don't know where it is...but even then... We could shut them down...Also...We could destroy them."  He looked at them. "I don't favor the second option."

Drale looked up from his book, "It would seem that the reactors are why our nanomachines are so powerful. From my understanding, anyway. And yes, I can see why you wouldn't want to destroy them. Power... is hard to give up. But, what would the difference be between shutting them off, and destroying them? Would that not just result in the same effect? Anyway, it would seem our best bet is to continue forward. Unless anyone has any objections, I suggest we proceed ahead, or wait for the Kaymn to appear. You know, the one Efton sensed a while ago." he said, after Efton had finished talking. He then went back to writing.

"I meant a temporary shut off... enough time to kill my father." He said. "I want to save society, not deprive it of all..."

"Ah, yes. Well, I suppose that numbers would overwhelm him. I hope, at the very least. Because if we shut them down wouldn't that mean we would also lose our powers?" Drale asked, looking up from his book.

"Wich is why I think its risky." He pointed to Tristans sword. "I don't know if that will work on my father... as you heard as well from the recording...he can mess with our minds with the machines..."
