How is Playstation Now going to work?

Posted

I just don't get it! Can you buy games or is it just renting? Is it going to require a subscription fee or is it going to be part of the Playstation Plus thingy? If there is a subscription fee and I stop paying it for like 2 months, will I be able to play the games I rented or bought during these 2 months? I don't understand :( How will Playstation Now work?

PlayStation Now will give ordinary players (even those without PS Plus) older titles from the PS, PS2, and PS3. PlayStation Now will have two features for cloud-straming games to PS4, PS Vita, and PS3; First will be the rental option. As you can see there, you can rent the games for however many days, and it's a period where you have unlimited access until it ends. The other option is Subscription, where players can subscribe to the actual service and (we believe) most, if not all games are accessible for unlimited periods of time.

Now for the speculation.

if you subscribe, I would assume you immediately lose access to all of the games you've played, excluding the ones whose rental period is still in progress, Also, I think you can buy the games at a similar price to the digital version. Don't take my word for it, as I am as in the dark as you and I haven't been given the closed beta invite, but these guys are reliable:

Guess who just got a ps now beta invite. Only hours later.

I'll let you in on the details as they come.

Wait, a few hours after you applied for beta. You got an invite? Sweet! Congrats man :)

You pay whatever price it states for that amount of time and you can then stream that game for that period of time once you activate it. You'll be able to stream it to PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Sony TVs, smartphones and tablets. They should and probably will have a subscription, but they haven't released any details. This is still a beta, they will listen to consumer feedback.
