How do you Deal With Game Backlogs?

Posted

I've currently got a crazy backlog, and I'm working on trying to lighten the load a bit. For those who don't know, a backlog is basically all of the games that you own, but have yet to complete (Typically, older games are counted). I'm just curious about how some of you deal with them.

My current goal is to focus mostly on 4 games. I have two primary games (Xenoblade Chronicles and Wind Waker HD at the moment), one handheld game that won't take as much time (Dragon Quest IX right now, since I've nearly finished it), and one chosen at random (Final Fantasy IX). What methods have you all come up with? Feel free to take my idea, if you'd like. We can use this to help each other clean things up backlog-wise. :D

I list out all the games I have in my backlog and I work on one or two at a time. I don't allow myself to move onto another game unless I finish the one I have started. Naturally it so far has been a disaster but I really have no other solution. Currently I'm playing through Child of Light and Kingdom Hearts Re:CoM, I've almost finished both games so then I'll move onto another. Easier said than done and it isn't always that effective especially if you aren't in the specific mood to play a certain game.

The problem is, I keep buying games quicker than I am finishing them so my backlog keeps building up. If I can get through nearly half of my list by the end of the summer then I'll be happy. I should point out my list doesn't count my Steam library or anything like that so my backlog is about 17-ish games on either handheld or home consoles. It's not too bad but I'm still disappointed that it's gotten this much out of hand regardless.

Just do one at a time like me, and avoid buying more games until you've finished some more

I usually dun have a backlog because I playthrough an entire game the moment I get it.
