This is a Top 10 list which I was given the idea to make by Oishii. This list will go over some of the Common misconceptions that are in and around the Kingdom Hearts Universe. These misconceptions aren't exactly on a higher or lower ground than one another, they are all equal, it's just a random ordering scheme.
LET'S GET ON WITH THE LIST!
Play this so it's not in silence
NUMBER 10!
Who actually is the owner of the Kingdom Key?
The Kingdom Key's real owner is actually Riku however it fell to Sora as his heart was stronger than Riku's after Riku succumbed to the Darkness in Kingdom Hearts I, however this explains why at certain points in Kingdom Hearts I Riku can wield the Kingdom Key. Riku does however get his own Keyblade once he chooses to walk the Road to Dawn, faces the darkness and conquers it proving that his heart is strong enough to wield a Keyblade which grants him his own Keyblade, the Way to Dawn.
NUMBER 9!
Have we seen the Real Kingdom Hearts?
Many believe that we have seen the real Kingdom Hearts on numerous occasions which is not the case. We have only seen the true Kingdom Hearts once which was in Birth By Sleep. On the other occasions we seen it, It had a Yellow tone of color to it, that is because it was made up of the Hearts of People and it is synthetic (Meaning man-made) however the Birth By Sleep Kingdom Hearts is a Blue tone of color as it is made by the Hearts of the Worlds and is also unlocked by the Assemblage of the X-Blade.
NUMBER 8!
Sora is not able to Dual Wield without Drive.
Sora is in fact able to Dual Wield without the Drive abilities in Kingdom Hearts II that the good fairies granted him along with his new attire, the only purpose the Drive abilities gave to Sora was to give him and edge and help him awaken these abilities easier and use them more fluidly. This is a quote from the Birth By Sleep Ultimania which tells the reason why Sora can Dual Wield without Drive "Sora can wield two Keyblades because he has Ventus' heart as well as his own"
NUMBER 7!
Do you actually die in the Kingdom Hearts Universe?
There is a way to die in Kingdom Hearts and neither of them is when forming the beings of Heartless or Nobodies, they are just bi-products of ones being. With Heartless, that happens when someone loses their heart to the darkness and a Nobody is when someone loses their body, with their heart and soul still in tact. The way to kill someone in Kingdom Hearts is to destroy their soul completely or is removed entirely from their body. However the soul can live on and replace itself, this is shown as an example by Terra's Lingering Will in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix.
NUMBER 6!
Roxas is not Ventus and Ventus is not Roxas.
Roxas is not Ventus and vice-versa. At first, Roxas was thought to be the nobody of Ventus although that isn't the case as we know now. Roxas is the nobody of Sora however he has a part of Sora and Ventus inside of him, that is why he is given the appearance of Ventus and is able to Dual Wield. Roxas is able to Dual Wield because he has Sora's heart which allows use of the Kingdom Key and Ventus' heart which allows use of the Wayward Wind, this in turn allows him to Dual Wield (Without Drive). He has shown to do it more fluently and effectively than Sora.
NUMBER 5!
Keyblades themselves are not collected.
Keyblades were thought to be gathered by Sora because there was the confusion in Kingdom Hearts II that the Keyblades were their own specific weapon. In actual fact all Sora does is use a different Keychain depending on what Keyblade he is going to use, he just equips whatever Keychain on his Kingdom Key and it will transform into said Keyblade whether it be the Ultima Weapon, Oblivion, Oathkeeper, etc.
NUMBER 4!
Xehanort confusion.
There is a lot of confusion within the Kingdom Hearts community about the Xehanorts. Many believe that Young Xehanort is a younger version of Terranort or Terra-Xehanort. This is not true however. Terranort is just a body that Master Xehanort used to manifest his heart as and give him the mind and memories of Master Xehanort. So the spectrum goes: Young Xehanort > Master Xehanort > Terranort > Apprentice Xehanort. Young Xehanort is Master Xehanort in his teenage years and was given the ability to Time Travel by Ansem Seeker of Darkness.
NUMBER 3!
Sora is NOT Aqua's successor.
Sora isn't Aqua's successor. Many believe that Aqua bestowed the inheritance ceremony when she met him and Riku on Destiny Island. This is not the case, Kairi is actually Aqua's successor as she accidentally performed the inheritance ceremony when touching Aqua's Keyblade in Radiant Garden. Whereas Riku is Terra's successor as Terra thought that Riku would be a worthy successor and deliberately performed the ceremony on Riku. Aqua senses that Terra has already performed the inheritance ceremony on Riku and states "One Keyblade is enough for any friendship." As she had planned to do the ceremony on Sora.
NUMBER 2!
Xion, A Nobody or a Puppet?
Xion is infact a Puppet, she is not by any manor of means a Nobody nor is she her own person. Xion was made by Vexen at Castle Oblivion to replicate that of Roxas and Sora's memories and powers, this is why near the end of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Roxas starts to lose power and abilities whereas Xion gains them. This also explains why she takes the form of Sora at the end of the game.
NUMBER 1!
Nobodies can't wield Keyblades.
It is thought that in order to wield a Keyblade, one must have a heart and a strong one at that. Nobodies are born without hearts but it has been shown that over time, Nobodies do grow hearts, thus shown by Roxas. Roxas and Xion can wield from the get-go however because they both harbor a part of Sora, a Keyblade wielder. However Axel or Lea is a Prime example of this coming into play. Axel as a nobody had no heart wielded Chakrams but as 358/2 Days progressed, he developed emotions along with Roxas, this in turn allowed him to grow a heart, he was then "Killed" and had his heart sent back to his original body of Lea. SPOILERS FOR DREAM DROP DISTANCE UP AHEAD!
Lea then, with his fully grown heart, materialized a Keyblade in his hand in front of Sora, Mickey, Riku, Donald, Goofy and Master Yen Sid in the Mysterious Tower where he explains he wants to become a Keyblade master and go through the Mark of Mastery Exam. This leads me to believe that He and Kairi will go together in a Mark of Mastery Exam for a small portion of Kingdom Hearts III. This is Lea's Keyblade:
