Now, I know Frozen started out as an adaptation of The Snow Queen but the end product wound up being entirely different, supposedly almost a direct adaptation of a 1920's book called Winter's Sister. The main characters names are even eerily similar, Frozen has Anna and Elsa, while Winter's Sisters has Elise and Annabelle. Disney had no way of knowing this as the only copy in existence is supposedly in a rare books library in Europe and Disney did not have access to it. Naturally this also means that there is no way for me to prove its existence either. My point is, with the story being so drastically different, do you think that Disney should attempt a more accurate adaptation of The Snow Queen in the future, Not any time soon but in like 20 years or so?

 

Personally, I would like this very much because, as I've said before, when I heard Disney was adapting The Snow Queen I was like "Seriously? So the princess is going to save the prince this time!? Awesome!" And then I learned about the changes and was disappointed (luckily I learned about them long before the movie came out.)

Nah, most Disney adaptations are loosely based on the original work anyways. Its best if they just leave it be.

I wouldnt want it to be quite honest.With what information youve given about it,the only interesting thing about it is that the Princess saves the Prince.If thats the case,I dont think it be that much to bother trying to make it again.

Plus,if you wanna see a movie where the Prince is saved by the Princess,heres a recommendation for you.

Nope.  Disney takes a vague concept from original stories and evolved them into generally completely different tales, and wouldn't feel the need to make one more true to the original since they take stories that've been in the public domain so long they can rip them off for free without paying a license.

Basically there was a twisted mirror created by the devil that made everyone who looked in the world see beautiful things as ugly. The mirror was shattered and the shards where blown away by the wind sometimes these shards would embed themselves into a persons eye, through the mirror, or in their heart making them cold an unfeeling. One day two of these shards embed themselves in a boy named Kai, one in his eye, and one in his heart. He is them kidnapped by the Snow Queen and held captive until he can complete a certain task. The nature of the task differs from version to version but it almost always involve some sort of puzzle that is both time consuming and almost impossible to complete. Kai's friend Gerda then has to set out on a journey save him.

Obviously Disney would have to change the religious overtones to more neutral equivalent but that's easy.

 

I know Disney never makes 100% accurate adaptations, but none of them have ever deviated as much a Frozen did from The Snow Queen

This sounds....quite dull really.Granted  Im not expecting grand stories from way back when,but it literally sounds like a run of the mill Prince saves Princess kind of thing...except the other way around...and with mirrors,which honestly just sounds like another means to an end.Maybe its just me not knowing the story itself and me only getting this description that gives me this perception,but quite honestly I dont think some puzzle/mirror thing is enough to work with to make them want to do  another go at this adaptation.

Hey,like i said,short descriptions dont tend to show the big picture

I personally love Snow Queen very much and although I liked Frozen, I was disappointed by how it had little to do with the original story. So of course I'd like to see a new adaptation, though I it won't happen for sure.
