Today was the last day of Saturday morning cartoons

Posted

I just found this out: Vortexx on the CW had its final broadcast today, and there are cartoon lineups on ABC, NBC, CBS, or Fox. This makes today the last day that Saturday Morning Cartoons runs on broadcast TV. No more ABC Kids,Kids WB, Fox Box, or any variations of those programing will be air on TV anymore. I was shocked when I heard that. I knew that 4Kids went bankrupt but I thought they got it back. I was on those channels for over 10 years every Saturday and now it's gone! I hope it comes back one day.

Well that's what you get for f*cking up DragonBall Kai.

Btw, can you give us a source so we can confirm this?

I mean I haven't watched Saturday morning cartoons in forever, but the whole nostgia of it makes me kinda bumbed out.

There's still Cartoonnetwork at least.

Insert celebrations over the end of 4Kids.

Also, no source?

Um, Cartoon Network? Nickelodeon? Disney Channel? Wait, no, scratch that, Disney xD? I know they're exclusively cartoons (for the most part), but the point is that they still show things on Saturday mornings. Isn't that what matters? Saturday morning isn't dead, it's just that those channels don't appear to be hosting them right now.

they were the original channels that had Saturday morning cartoons.People had more memories watching cartoons on those channels. Before ABC Kids there was 1 Saturday Morning, before 4Kids TV there was Fox Box/Fox Kids, and so on and so forth. And Cartoon Network, Nick, and Disney Channel already air cartoons on their channels. Saturday morning cartoons usually airs only on those specific channel.

Two words: Disney Afternoon. Sure, it wasn't exactly Saturday morning, but it was equivalent to it for many kids. And it doesn't really matter what channels do what now. I don't think the spirit of Saturday Morning cartoons will ever really fade away, even if those channels don't show them anymore. No matter what, that spirit will stay alive in some shape or form. You'll see.

Also, dang it! I mean to say "Disney xd" not "Disney  xD ". Stupid auto-emoticon feature. xP

Move to Australia if you want to watch cartoons.

PBS probably will keep having kids shows on in the morning (before 10AM), but not all their kid shows are cartoons. And most are meant to be edutainment.
