Finally... FINALLY WE'RE GETTING A SWORD ART ONLINE GAME ON AN ACTUAL HOME CONSOLE! I'm really excited for this, since this will be the first one I can actually play! It sucks that it looks like it's just Alfheim, but it still looks really fun! I really can't wait until it's released!

I'm excited too. I haven't played an SAO game for the same reasons Shulk hasn't, so I'm excited to see what this game's all about.

A ton of new information has been released for Lost Song.

 

First off, it's confirmed that the game will be localized for the West; it'll come to US Stores sometime in Spring 2015.

 

Second, we have a synopsis for the story:

 

 

Lost Song will include a completely original story which will primarily involve the exploration of “Svart Alfheim”, a new area of ALfheim Online comprised of a series of floating continents close to the World Tree. The game will skip past the Fairy Dance arc.

 

Having arrived at the new hub city, Kirito’s group encounters the «Shamrock» guild. Although led in practice by Sumeragi, this guild’s official leader and most conspicuous member is Seven, aka Professor Nanairo Sharvin, an MIT alumni conducting research on virtual societies forming within online networks. By encountering “Rainbow Arshavin” that are said to stand as the light in contrast to the darkness belying the world of ALfheim Online through the legacy of Kayaba Akihiko. Kirito’s next great adventure is put into motion.

 

Thirdly, we have some (translated) scans detailing the battle mechanics of the game, detailing combat, movement, and playable characters. There's also a section detailing what key characters will appear in the game, including known favorites and brand new characters made exclusively for the game.

A-and... Online.. play? Holy freaking crap, getting this game even if it tuns out to be half-dating sim like the others. Good to know the release isn't far off!

Firaga pointed out to me earlier that there's a picture that made it look like some of the other party members were being played as, so that's possible. I never played the other games in the series since I don't own a Vita and don't plan on getting one, so I don't know how it worked in those.

So, I somehow forgot to watch the second trailer until now... It actually shows Silica and a few other characters leading the party. So yeah, we can play as anyone. I definitely know who I'll be sticking with.

More information has been released on the game, including some gameplay footage from a video interview with game producer Yosuke Futami, also featuring singer Eir Aoi, known for her song "Ignite", the first opening for SAOII.

Well, been a while since I posted in here...

 

Anyway, character customization has now been confirmed for the game! We can create a character from any of the nine races, and customize their appearance as well! These characters can be used in both singleplayer and multiplayer, and if used in the story mode, the game will progress as if you are playing as Kirito. Sub-episodes were also confirmed, which seem to be side missions that will unlock new items. What race are you all planning to go with?

Yuuki, a character introduced in the Mother's Rosario Arc and in the anime adaption of Sword Online II, has been confirmed to be a playable character.

I literally just began to wonder today if she'd be playable or not. Guess I'll be able to use my favorite character now.

A recent update for SAO Lost Song has confimred that Kuroyukihime from Accel World will be a playable character:

Her apperance is based on an OVA that was bundled with the Accel World game "-Ginyoku no Kakusei".

 

It has been teased that the reason for apperance will be explained in-game.

Rather than a simple western port, Lost Song is being ported to PS4 and will release this fall. Bigger news, Hollow Fragment is being turned into a Re:Hollow Fragment on the PS4 and launches in the west this summer. Added note: Re:Hollow Fragment is digital only.

The official website splits into two separate sections that include Re:Hollow Fragment and Lost Song. Not only is Re:Hollow Fragment releasing on the PS4, but Infinity Movement from the PSP has been fully remastered and added on as an additional title within Re:Hollow Fragment.

Also, no confirmation, but it's likely that the PS3 version of Lost Song is not being localized, just the remaster/ports for PS4. If you were looking forward to it, not owning a PS4, may just halt your excitement a bit.

Wait a minute... WHAT?!

 

We've spent all this time waiting for a port for the Playstation 3, which is one of the two consoles this game was originally announced to be on, and now us PS3-users in the states are possibly not even getting a port and instead have to settle for a port for a console we don't have.

Ugh... Yeah, not quite as excited anymore thanks to how this is being handled. The PS4 port of the SAO waifu dating sim with RPG elements doesn't make the deal any better, either.

PS4 only in the West? Ah, too bad. I'm not a big fan of ALFheim but it's got nothing to do with the second arc of SAO 1 so that's good.
