Metal Snake Reviews: Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods

(Note:This won't be a full review,just a very short one....and by that I mean kinda long but it's not.......I don't make sense now do I)

I've just finished watching Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods and I gotta say,as a DBZ fan, this was so good, sooooo good

I had a ton of fun watching Battle of Gods and it's certainly one of the best DBZ movies out there.Just a liiiiittle bit behind World's Strongest

I won't spoil anything but the best thing about this movie for me is it's humor, something that DBZ began to lack as the series progressed compared to the original Dragon Ball series.I got a lot of laughs out of this movie, one of them ironically was from Vegeta himself.I won't say much but let's say once you see that moment you will never take Vegeta seriously anymore

I also loved the character of Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction.Without a doubt he has to be the funniest, most entertaining opponent Goku has ever faced in any of the movies.Sure his power is fierce and he intends to destroy the earth if he didn't find the Super Saiyan God,but his interactions with his assistant Whis and the other characters were so funny and entertaining to watch and it added a lot to the humor that the movie was focusing on.

My only gripe with this movie, and it's a bit of a spoiler here,is the battle between Goku and Beerus.

Don't get me wrong the battle was epic but it was a bit.....underwhelming when it comes to what I expect in DBZ battles especially when your opponent is the GOD OF DESTRUCTION.But that's mostly a nitpick at this point as the movie's focus wasn't the battles themselves but more so the fun aspect that one would expect from Dragon Ball.

The voice acting,as you would expect from Funimation,is SUPERB,it's fantastic.Sean Schemmel(sorry if I butchered the name) once again did a fantastic job voicing Goku and Christopher Sabat's voice for Vegeta is just as good as before if not much better especially with how Vegeta was portrayed in the movie and overall the whole cast did a great job and I salute Funimations for that.

Overall I really love this movie. For me it's everything I know and love about Dragon Ball Z being put together into one movie that I'm ready to rewatch again and again and it reminds me of why I still love DBZ despite the series's flaws and missteps.I can't wait until I see the premeire of the upcoming 2015 movie.

I'm glad you liked it. But I hated the Vegeta dance UGHHH it was awful to watch!

The battles' length doesn't really matter in DBZ, as most people may seem to think. It's about how impactful and entertaining you can make each fight, and BoG definitely delivered on that aspect. Besides, I can tell this is just a taste of what is to come in the future with another DBZ movie on the way next year. Anyways, good review.

Didn't you read what I said in your review, Mr. Axel? And do I have to remind you that if you don't think that was the greatest thing Vegeta has ever done, then you have no soul??

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I'm new to DBZ, so this is the second movie I watched, but I loved it a lot. Watching it at the theater was awesome, and I'm excited to get the Blu Ray!

I really liked when he realized what his wife, son, and best friend meant to him and sacrificed himself in true warrior's fashion. That seemed a lot more fitting. If you liked him dancing around like a fool, that's your opinion. But most of the fans hated it.

Most of the fans loved it, what are you talking about? Also, you don't really get it: he needed to act like a fool to keep Beerus from raging. When the Prince of Saiyans is willing to do something like that to keep a God from destroying his peeps, then you know that Beerus, the God in question, means serious business. Doesn't matter if it looks totally cool or totally silly: a sacrifice is a sacrifice. And the fact that Vegeta was willing to do it after years of acting like a prick to everybody shows how much he's grown as a character.

If you go on Youtube and look at the comments, you'll see differently. And there's a huge difference between character growth and deliberately choosing an unsuspecting character fit for the scene, and make a gag out of it, hopefully drawing a roar of laughter from the audience. Toriyama tried too hard for laughs.

Yes, because YouTube comments are a wonderful source to find good opinions. *sarcasm* I ain't touching that shit with a fifty foot power pole.

Also: trying too hard for laughs? DUDE. This is a gag manga artist you're talking about. GAG. MANGA. DragonBall was full of this stuff near the beginning of its run, and while that aspect got toned down at the beginning of Z and onwards, this movie was meant to bring back that old style of mixing action with comedy. Also: unsuspecting? You obviously didn't see the part where, you know, Vegeta realizes that Beerus is at the party and knowing that if he gets pissed, he's gonna wreck shit, so he has to do everything he can in order to keep him happy. Honestly, the moment that Vegeta stopped being all quiet and stoic like he usually is should give you a big red flag saying "welp, looks like we're gonna see Vegeta break out of his shell a little here".
