First panel

Kairi: Sora...

Sora: Kairi...

Second Panel

Sora: BOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! RIKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU WHERE WERE YOU, I LOOKED EVERYWHERE FOR YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!

Sora, you idiot.

Thanks to Twitter user @mzklemon and his sarcastic tweet for this:

"Isn't KH2 awesome? The scene of the reencounter with the best friend who was in the Realm of Darkness is much more intense than with the Heroin who was abducted."

And here is another one:

Posted Image

First Panel:

Sora: Riku! You're alright! (The scene from DDD where after Riku dives into Sora)

Second Panel:

Roxas inside Sora's Heart: HEY YOU IDIOT! YOU GO AND DO THAT TO KAIRI!

And their tweet: "Sora looks like a big dog Riku takes care of."

Sora didn't really know Kairi was abducted though. He just thought she was safely chilling in Destiny Islands. It's Riku who was last seen in a place completely covered in darkness. Plus the fact that he found Mickey, but Riku was still missing must have freaked him out even more.

You know this was meant as a joke, right?

I have to put this in because no one ever seems to mention this enough if ever.
Remember we are also talking about another culture here, regardless if they are partnered with Disney, this game is MADE in Japan, and WRITTEN by Japanese writers! Their interepation of the acceptable bounderies and subtle body language that translate between friendship and affection is different!

Regardless of how I feel about one ship or another, if you knew the FIRST thing about how conservative Japanese culture is about showing outward affection of the romantic sort, you’d know this game -As far as ths game is recieved by they japanese audience concered- this game is saying to us that Sora is serious about Kairi!

Things like accepting hugs, holding her hand in front of others, are the more traditional ways of showing affection, and even THEN, that’s a big deal! I could rant about all the nuiances, but I’m going to save my time and just say- LOOK IT UP! Google and youtube are your friends!’

Here’s just one of many blogs or websites that talk about this in order to just inform people coming to Japan for visits or tourism.

http://outsiderjapan.pbworks.com/w/page/30055672/Relationships%20and%20Sexuality%20in%20Modern%20Japan

Looking up this stuff will even go into the specifics on how coridial, and even more relaxed people act when it comes to friendships and personal bounderies. Regardless of how I, or my culture handles women, in the semiotics of Japan- Sora hugging and accepting the hand of a GIRL, is a BIG FREAKIN DEAL!

"But he’s held and possibly hugged Riku too!" Yeah, that’s normal! Guys are free to do that however they want! girls cna hug eachother all they like too. But hugging GUY hugging and or touching a GIRL (not related) in some other way when they’re not kids any more- that’s different for them!

And before you go ” but Sora hasn’t confessed or anything!”- the trope of withholding the act of the romantic confession is something that is CLASSIC in Japanese media and writing when concerning couples.

It is either done at the very beginning, or they string it along FORVER until the VERY end- sometimes even making it as subtle as possible regardless because again- regardless of how free their latest generation is on this topic, this story is still being written by people born and raised in the generation that is more traditional and subtle with handling romantic relationships between characters.

Also if Sora were to confess, that opens a whole new ball of complexities that I’ll just leave this link here:http://www.tofugu.com/2013/10/23/japans-love-confessing-culture/

Bottom line: Soras too busy saving the world to be doing that yet! Thats something saved for the end most liekly. And by end I mean END of the STORY! So for now all we are going to get is subtle hnts here and there that- as far as Japan is conerned, are HUGE red flags!

The close ups of Sora handling Kairi is focused on, on purpose! In the language of film, I’m sorry ladies/gents and Yaoi shippers and between- but the writers are saying everything besides spitting it out that Sora really REALLY likes Kairi!

It’s time to get over yourselves, take your western rose colored glasses off, and learn a thing or two.

AND that Kairi did the same thing.....

Whazzat?

Whazzat?

You are misinterpreting the situation

stuff

I agree, but I feel like pointing out that both of those comics were drawn by Japanese fans, so they find those scenes funny as well.

Yes, but the actual intention of the scene is quite different

You can make a joke about it. That's most likely what the artist of this intended. But heaps of fans seem to take it the wrong way in seriousness

Isn't the joke that Sora is too overreactive over Riku?

The joke you were making, yes. But the "heaps of fans" KittensOnFire is referring to most likely are 腐女子 who either purposefully or not misinterpret the scene.

Oh I see. That wasn't what I meant anyway, just that Sora is too overreactive over Riku.

I laughed hard when they said Sora looks like Riku's Dog, and Roxas inside him too wwww

Yeah......I've fought them one to many times. I guess I over-reacted here :S

You're approaching the problem wrong; what you have to do is ignore them. More often then not when people are convinced of that they don't care about whatever they're wrong or not.
