Xenosaga is owned by Namco, but developed by Monolith. Same team as Xenoblade. A lot of the people that made Xenogears went on to form Monolith as well. Xeno is considered by a lot of people to be an entire series in its own, even if different companies technically own the rights to different entries. Naming themes are similar between all of them, and there are references in the games to other entries. Xenosaga was originally intended to be a prequel to Xenogears, if I remember correctly, back when there were going to be more than 3 Xenosaga games.

Don't worry, I'm aware of that. This seems to be the basic pattern of differentiation between the games.

Xenogears = Square Enix

Xenosaga = BANDAI NAMCO

Xenoblade Chronicles = Nintendo

All developed by Monolith Soft. At this point, I really hope that Monolith Soft does not move away from Nintendo because they seem to be my favourite developer for the company. I'm playing Project X Zone 2 and the dual battle between Metalface and T-elos with KOS MOS and Fiora was just wonderful. It blew my mind that I was using the Heihachi family from Tekken and the Yakuza family to wipe them out!

On a side note, there should totally be a Xenosaga remastered collection.

Actually, Nintendo bought Monolith Soft just before they made Xenoblade. They're pretty much a first-party developer at this point, so they'll be sticking with Nintendo unless they're sold off for some reason. I have yet to play Xenogears or Xenosaga, but from what I've seen and read, Xenoblade/X seem to be the games where they've had the most creative freedom so far. Square limited their original intentions from Xenogears, and they ended up having to cut back on Xenosaga's planning, but they've been free to do what they want since Nintendo bought them.

Speaking of PXZ2, how is that one? I still haven't finished the first, and the second looks really fun, although the demo was really easy. I love the idea of getting to play as Fiora, though.

I'd be happy with a Xenosaga HD collection. Namco and Nintendo are on pretty good terms with one another, so I could see that happening at some point in the future.

Couldn't agree more. I don't think that Nintendo will ever sell off Monolith Soft after the success of the Xenoblade franchise. I still find it so surprising that Xenogears was intended to be the original Final Fantasy 7. If anything, it's a blessing that Monolith Soft left Square Enix because they would have been left as a stagnant development team. Nintendo are so welcoming to them that they aid in the development of core Zelda titles. You cannot get more trustworthy than that.

PXZ2 is amazing, they do a wonderful job tying all the characters together. There's a new side villain who speaks in Broken English (Broken Japanese in the voice acting) and it's hilarious! KOS MOS and Fiora are part of the main story (I'm not sure about Chrom and Lucina because they've only been involved with one side story so far). The demo was intentionally easy. It ironically gets hard when Metalface and T-elos show up in the game... go and get the game!

It'd be a wonderful HD title to add to the Nintendo NX. It'd appeal to the nostalgia factor of gamers and attract Non-Nintendo fans to the new system.

I doubt that as well. I'm really happy that Monolith was formed away from Square, it gave them a lot more freedom and allowed them to make games like the two Xenoblade games. As for Zelda, so far, they've only been involved with Skyward Sword from what I've seen. They've mentioned wanting to help with the upcoming Zelda game, but we don't know if they actually are assisting in its development. I think that they'd be great additions to the team though, given their experience with creating large, interesting worlds. It still does show that they're becoming an important part of Nintendo, and I'm excited to see what they'll do next.

Ah, alright. I've heard that it was pretty easy, but given that it was early after release that I saw those comments, it makes sense for that to be just something with the early levels. I like how the first tied everything together (I'm not familiar with a whole lot of the characters, but I like the steady stream of new faces/worlds to visit and enemies to face), and I really like the idea of having even more new characters to see. Once I finish the first, I'll definitely pick up the second. Knowing that the difficulty isn't as much of an issue as I thought at first makes me more excited to try out the full game! It might take a while to finish the first though, given how long it is...

It would also be a really good way for people that didn't have a PS2 to play the older Monolith games. It could be a really good idea for a launch title for the NX (We'll likely have DQXI covering the JRPG side of things, but another one wouldn't hurt either), although I feel like it might be a stretch to get it that soon. I'd be fine with getting one at any point during the NX's lifetime, though I'd like to see it come earlier if possible.

Soooo, since this is technically the general discussion thread for XCX, Imma just post my plight here...

The Definian Downfall mission has been a kick in the balls. I've been having trouble getting the three keys to unlock the barrier. The two collectable ones aren't too bad since I can Shadowrunner through the enemies (with enough TP), but I can't get into a fight with the dude holding the last key without getting two other dudes into the fight, and I can't take out those two without getting key guy into the fight. Then everyone dies and I have to try to get back in without dying to some other enemy.

I've also heard that the boss is pretty hard, but getting lots of beam resist gear helps against it.

I'm Level... 53, I think, and I've maxed Duelist, Bastion Warrior and FMJ. Unfortunately I haven't done much with the Enforcer route so far.

Any tips on how to get through this would be appreciated. I'd rather not have to grind to be able to get through all the enemies. I'm also not that good with Overdrives, but I suppose I can... practice Overdriving...?

EDIT: I got through key guy and the sisters with Gravity Blossom Dance + Ghostwalker, even though my Potential is under 100 xP Now I'm stuck on Rexoskell I. Definitely should practice Overdrive strats, and/or change gear. Also wondering how Rexoskell II is gonna be since I don't have G-Busters for everyone .-. Guess the giant laser cannon might work?

EDIT2: Barely managed to beat Rexoskell I. I used the Blossom Dance Ghostwalker arts, but I didn't end up using Offensive Stance or Blossom Dance since I was using TP for activating or resetting Overdrive whenever possible. Almost died at the very end too xP Rexoskell II wasn't nearly as bad imo

Any help is appreciated. No help needed anymore
