Michelle Maclaren from Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, and Game of Thrones is set to direct the June 23, 2017 Wonder Woman film starring Gal Gadot. This news is very exciting to me because Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones are both epic shows with cinematic effects. Her experience directing these shows definitely makes me feel comfortable with the WW movie in her hands.

    Excellent choice, Warner Bros!

Oh great, now WW is going to cook up some meth, get naked, then have her head chopped of. Nice. JK, I know there's more than that to those shows.

I've never watched the shows but I've seen the hype/fans that revolve around them. Either way I'm excited for this WW movie-- just need Gatot to beef up a liiittle bit more. xD

Hahahaha! I haven't even seen those shows, but I know how popular they are and she will help make WW movie a success. And who knows? Maybe a meth lab beneath Themyscria (her home world) won't be such a bad idea 8)

She'll get buff. Wonder Woman herself isn't a tank, so a little training and hamburgers should do the trick.

Yeah I know, as long as she's not toothpick skinny I'll be content. :)

Exactly. I'm not sure where people got this idea that Wonder Woman was super buff, because she's never been drawn that way. Like with most female superheroes, she's basically just drawn to be hot, with arms that are only slightly above skinny.

Maybe it's just me, but I think Gal Gadot's on about comparable terms with how she's usually represented. Yes, I know, there are some depictions of her where she's got huge-as-firetruck arms, but generally, she's drawn about like that. My biggest concern is more Gadot's acting, which is just kind of 'eh' to me.

That's exactly what I'm worried about too. She was in Fast N Furious and some other terrible movie. I really hope the casting directors were blown away by her audition because she looks the part, but that won't be enough for a stand alone WW film.

^ My favorite adaptation of Wonder Woman. Smart, caring, strong willed...perfectly written.

It's a good pedigree, but DC movies don't really have a good track record

I'll stay optimistic.

It'd be really sad if Wonder Woman's solo film debut sucked

Well, in that adaption, she totally has beefy arms and shoulders. But yeah, Gal Gadot's 'best scene' in Fast & Furious was just her taking off a towel and showing off her skinny, not that impressive body. 'Never send a man to do a woman's job.' Yeah, okay, sure...

When can we get our Aquaman film?

2018...a long way away. Same year as The Flash movie.

She's not ridiculously buff though! It's believable. And I know...that was embarrassing. It took no skill, just raw beauty. That's not Wonder Woman. But actresses evolve all the time, so hopefully ol' Gal learns from her mistakes.

The Dark Knight trilogy was incredible! Not part of the DC cinematic universe but still. Man of Steel is the only movie connected to the universe so how can you say DC doesn't have a good track record?

I do agree with you; If Wonder Woman sucks, DC is done. Same with Batman vs. Superman.

Dark Knight peaked with Returns, but Rises was a lot worse. Green Lantern as really bad, Man of Steel wasn't good. As a rule, DC movies simply aren't that great, their domain is definitely more TV, where they have tonnes of excellent animated series

and another reason to feel like it won't be good. three words

No joke rule

Again, Green Lantern isn't part of the cinematic universe. Man of Steel is the only one so far. It made $128 opening weekend. Despite mixed reviews, i think it's a strong movie to open the universe up with. No better place to start than with Superman. He's the leader, even if Batman has a bigger fan base.

That whole "no joke rule" is just a stupid rumor. There will be humor, it just won't be over the top Marvel humor (Thor: The Dark World).

doesn't have to have a special name to show the general trend of DC's film making. Man of Steel is indistinguishable from Green Lantern or Dark Knight, you could say those are on the same universe.

DC's problem runs deeper than a cinematic universe or whatever. They're ashamed to be comics. They really want people to take a man dressed as a bat VERY seriously, and that's why the no jokes rule sounds real, even if it turns out to be a rumour. Their method is exhausting, Marvel has effectively shown that the market for a movie that isn't ashamed of its source material is massive.

But we keep getting these dark and gritty versions. Look at Wonder Woman, her outfit is about as dark as Batman's

Green Lantern's script was terrible. The diarrhea cloud monster made me shudder. If they had just WENT WITH SINESTRO AS THE VILLAIN it would've been a much better movie. The end credit scene showed him becoming a Yellow Lantern, but the movie sucked so bad it wasn't green lit for a sequel.

Well, Batman is never seen as a joke from inside the movies. But the same could be said about a talking tree or a talking raccoon. Comics are supposed to be outrageous in a sense, that's why we love them. DC doesn't have to follow Marvel's formula. If they did, everyone would say "DC IS COPYING MARVEL". So DC is taking things into their own hands and creating a more serious tone with their movies, which I am all for. DC has a lot of grim story arcs to begin with.

I don't think people would be upset with DC copying Marvel by making good movies.

and humour works pretty well for them

Jokes are a part of life. denying them to make things realistic is backwards. That same episode is REALLY dark, the villain KILLS his... I think she's his ex wife? I haven't seen it in a while

Hahahaha yes I love this episode. Dr.Destiny kills his ex wife and the guy she was sleeping with (the stuff they got away with back then..). This is my favorite adaptation of any DC product. It was a great show. I loved when Lex and The Flash switch bodies in JLU. Such funny lines in the episode.

You have to go on Netflix and watch them again. They've been there for a good year.

Ah okay. It's still a good show. I'm getting both series for Christmas and I'm super pumped.
