Okay so a dear old friend of mine gave me his (Fat Model CECHA01) Playstation 3-- Hoorah! All good and dandy right? Well... not so much. Not even after 5 minutes of turning it on I can hear the fans spinning/blowing pretty hard. At first it wasn't so loud but then it kept getting louder and louder to the point I couldn't watch or play anything on my PS3 without blasting my TV.

 

I read some other forums saying that this could lead to the YLOD. I find it weird because only a month or two earlier it was working just fine. I know I could possibly do this by myself but I'd prefer to send it in for repairs. Of course, I'm open to any suggestions/guides to fix the issue personally. 

I've had this happen, get a fan for the PS3 don't play it too much and if you do, use one hour intervals. If all else fails I would send it to get fixed.

I read the post title and I thought that there was some protest or roit composed of PlayStation 3 Fanboys... Anyway, I say use headphone... >> does my PS3 have that problem? maybe... I wouldn't know... I use headphones...

You could try changing the power supply. I think that is the problem.

It seems also solving the ylod problems.
