How Do U Feel About Smash Advanced Techniques?

Posted

advanced techniques in smash bros like l-cancelling and wave dashing. they are mostly in melee so i didnt post this in the smash 4 topic. i suck at them and i do try to use them sometimes but im still working on it. how do u guys feel about it? do u think it makes the game too advanced and hard to get into? or do you think it gives smash an advanced system that makes the game better?

Some of them I can do but some others are really hard to master heck my mind can't process those fast manuvers as quick as some players do like when I see some of them I was like:How can you even do that?

I for the most part don't bother with the complicated ones and try to practice the combos I can do with my mains and try to improve my other skills

thats a pretty good idea. scince smash 4 doesent have a majoraty of the advanced moves, i can understand why the competative scene was dissapointed. do you think there should be a patch enabling these moves?

I suck at Smash in general, so I can't do them. However, I don't like them, mostly because of the competitive players that worship them and hate all new Smash games for not including them.

i think its understandable. the melee/competative players loved smash because it was very competative and one of the things that made it so competative was the advanced moves. if you think in their shoes, then why would you want to switch to another game that doesent have something that was a major reason you liked the series in the first place? the only time when i hate them is when they dis peopel who DO like the other games and call them "not dedicated smashers". but for the level headed competative players, i think its understandable why they dislike other games in the series because they lack what made melee so great (to them) i love all the game like u do but i can see the ther side's point.

The thing is, they act like the games are complete trash for not having these. Heck, things like wavedashing weren't even intentionally put in the game. They're pretty much just glitches that ended up becoming big in the competitive scene. If they had legitimate reasons for disliking the new games, sure, I'd understand. However, I don't consider "It doesn't have this unintended feature therefore the game is absolute trash lol" as an legitimate reason.

i understand your point. and its perfectly valid. but intentional or not, its a feature that was present in melee that made them love it. and either way, its a matter of opinion. unlike pokemon genwunners who judge the game without an open mind and give red/blue passes because they grew up with them, the competative melee scene really gave the later games a chance and wanted it to be good. the judged the game on its gameplay (what a game should be judged on) and decided that melee fit them far better and never bothered again unil the next game in the series. even though they heavely disliked the newer games, scince they approached it with an open mind and even wanting it to better and were dissapointed, its a valid opinion. and i think that if people want to say that others should respect their opnion, than you need to respect theirs as well. wave dashing, intentional or not, made the game more fun for those people ad its ok to dislike the next game for not having what made the previous ones so good. and just for the record, the people that did not judge with an open mind are not ok. only the ones that were open but from the smash community ive come into contact with, it seems that most of them gave it a legitamet chance. i do love all smash games tho. :3

Honestly I don't really like those ''advanced techniques'',its way too difficult to master.I have friends who master those ''advanced techniques'' and I lose everytime against them, its a miracle if I can make them lose a single stock or two in a match.

yeah. thats why unfortunatly you have to get used to using them in if want to play melee against other serious player effectively. i guess that why brawl exists. that has pretty mush no advanced techniques.

oh thats fine. i mean from a business standpoint. do you think it should happen to apease the people who rely on these techniques and for a "diffinative smash bros that appeales to all kinds of fans"? i dont really use advanced techniques either but i thought it would be nice to have the option.

Though it's satisfying to beat a show-off who wavedash all over the place
