Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 has been officially announced, and it looks like it's going to cover the last section of the Naruto story, as referenced by the images of Naruto and Sasuke in their Six Paths modes. Not only that, but Naruto's look from "The Last" is on the scan too, saying that he'll be in the game, which is pretty much confirmation that "The Last" will probably be a crucial part of the story mode as well. There is also confirmation that a demo will be playable by the time that Jump Festa 2015 comes around. This is all the information present.

 

So yeah: Ninja Storm on current-generation consoles... I'dbelyingifIsaidIwasn'tthetiniestbithyped.

You don't get it, man. I play as everybody. Not even for online, just when I want to fool around with the CPU. And knowing that my roster is incomplete because I didn't slap down some money at the right time is just not right. Why should I be punished because I got the game through other means?

You're not punished for not buying early, others are rewarded for being the first to purchase. This has been going on not just with NUNS games but the video game industry in general. Same goes for promos (ex. in the PC world, if you buy a particular graphics card you get a free game for a limited time. That's not punishment)

It is punishment. I didn't buy the game at the right time, so I don't get all the content. I'm not one to bitch about DLC, but this is just blatant. And no, this has not been a thing that has been going on with NUNS. The first damn game all had FREE DLC. Yes, it just support characters, but it was still free. The only other time NB has pulled this with Storm is the Goku costume for Storm 3, and you know what, I really don't want this to become an ongoing trend.

I think this preorder thing is blown a little out of proportion. Sure, it sucks; you can't play as a couple characters. But I guarantee, as in Smash Bros and most other fighting games, that there will be maybe three or four characters you play as the most, out of an already huge roster if all of Storm 3's cast is coming back. I don't think it's that big a deal, it's marketing to ensure that your game stays popular and you have guaranteed sales day-one. And to be honest, the PS4 has been out for some time now and is easily accessible to everyone, therefore it'd be natural for CC and Bandai to market towards the haves rather than the have nots.

I like to try out a lot of different characters, and Boruto and Sarada were among those who I wanted to play as. Either way, if I'm getting a fighting game, I want the complete roster. Locking two characters behind a pre-order is absolutely freaking ridiculous.

 

As for the PS4, not everyone can get one yet. They're still pretty expensive. I wasn't even able to get my PS3 until last year, so I'm not expecting to get a PS4 any time soon. Namco easily could have kept pre-order bonuses to costumes like they did with Storm 3 and Revolution, but no, they're screwing over all the people who can't pre-order the game. Namco's pulled this crap before, but this just happened to be the event that made me snap.

In this newest scan (translated by ShonenGameZ.com in this article), Itachi (in Edo Tensei form) and Shisui Uchiha are confirmed playable, but with a twist: their Awakenings have been changed to a Perfect Susanoo, designed by the author of the Naruto manga, Masashi Kishimoto.

I really hope that online play is better optimized this time. I'm too afraid to even try online battles in Revolution after how terrible it was in Storm 3. It'd also be nice if people would learn to quit spamming their jutsu/grab all the time.

 

Also, the bit about DLC... any word on specifics regarding DLC? I'm assuming (hoping) it's just costumes, but knowing Namco lately, you can never tell what they'll pull...

After a reread, the dlc is partially worth it. They actually made a note that some of the DLC is actually just base game unlockable content that you can get without buying the dlc.

Sure, Storm's good if you want to get the absolute minimum in terms of the story, and have it all told in a really weird way. Anyone who wants the real Naruto experience should still read the manga, though. It's far better if you want to know the whole plot, and doesn't cut anything. It's pretty much undeniable that the manga is the real way to get the whole story. The only people who I've seen say otherwise are the people who didn't read it. If you skip the filler, the anime is also good, but the manga is the completely uncut version of the story, told the way that Kishimoto intended for it to be.

 

Also, Storm 3's ending was absolutely horrible. "Oh no, my mask was destroyed! I quit, Ninja Alliance wins!" It also skipped out on a lot of the fights during the war, and messed up some other details.

ShonenGameZ.com released an article where they unveiled a new scan from Weekly Shonen Jump. The scan confirms that the previously talked about demo for the game will be released for the Playstation 4 next week. It is still unconfirmed whether this will be for Japan only or if it will be released internationally.

Bandai Namco has released more screenshots of the game, this time highlighting the new "Ninja Treasure" feature, a system where players can use in-game currency, i.e. ryo, to unlock costumes for the characters. These costumes will be from previous Storm games as well as brand new ones made for Storm 4, including Karin's prisoner outfit and Hanabi's Shippuden design used in the Naruto SD and the Hyuga Sisters anime special.
