The ninja battles continue! 

 

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 has been officially announced, and it looks like it's going to cover the last section of the Naruto story, as referenced by the images of Naruto and Sasuke in their Six Paths modes. Not only that, but Naruto's look from "The Last" is on the scan too, saying that he'll be in the game, which is pretty much confirmation that "The Last" will probably be a crucial part of the story mode as well. There is also confirmation that a demo will be playable by the time that Jump Festa 2015 comes around. This is all the information present.

 

So yeah: Ninja Storm on current-generation consoles... I'dbelyingifIsaidIwasn'tthetiniestbithyped.

Sure, Storm's good if you want to get the absolute minimum in terms of the story, and have it all told in a really weird way. Anyone who wants the real Naruto experience should still read the manga, though. It's far better if you want to know the whole plot, and doesn't cut anything. It's pretty much undeniable that the manga is the real way to get the whole story. The only people who I've seen say otherwise are the people who didn't read it. If you skip the filler, the anime is also good, but the manga is the completely uncut version of the story, told the way that Kishimoto intended for it to be.Also, Storm 3's ending was absolutely horrible. "Oh no, my mask was destroyed! I quit, Ninja Alliance wins!" It also skipped out on a lot of the fights during the war, and messed up some other details.

I didn't disagree that the last part of Storm 3 didn't tell it well. The game was efficient at wrapping up the story up to the Ninja War. I also agree that the manga is a much better experience in general. But for the people who prefer efficiency, the Storm games will do.

ShonenGameZ.com has released an article featuring list of gameplay files they have gathered from the Steam Database (a platform that allows players to view files uploaded to the Steam servers) which, as of right now, they are simply confirming as rumored content but strongly suggest that the SteamDB is rarely wrong.

The Last was already in the game, if I'm not mistaken. Gotta keep Boruto to the people who pre-order the game, because pre-order exclusive characters are such a wonderful idea!

The Last characters are early access bonuses, meaning you unlock them earlier than you would normally when you play the game. If you don't get the pre-order, you can still unlock them in game. Boruto, Sarada, and Kakashi's Hokage costume are pre-order only.

 

Also, what is the point of having scenarios based on The Last or Boruto? There's a lack of roster depth regarding those two properties. Toneri Otsutsuki hasn't even been shown to be in the game, neither have Momoshiki Otstsuki, Kinshiki Otsutsuki, the new Ino-Shika-Cho, any adult versions of Naruto or his classmates, Shin Uchiha, older versions of Orochimaru and Team Taka, etc.

 

I prefer seeing scenarios based on Shikamaru and Gaara because... well, I like them. A lot. So there.

They both have novels based off of their stories, right? I'd imagine the DLC stories will be connected to those. It'd be nice if the other novels were adapted too, although we all know how most people would react to a story focused on Sakura...

Yes, they do. But it's not that likely that these scenarios will be based on that. The Hiden series takes place in the "The Last" period, so we would need to see Shikamaru and Gaara with designs from "The Last".

 

Also, their stories don't really fit: Shikamaru Hiden is basically about fighting a guy named Gengo and Gaara Hiden has a terrorist group but is mostly focused on Gaara getting married of all things (he doesn't actually get married obviously, but still.)

 

The only way for this to work is if Gengo and the other ninja from these novels are given actual designs and included in the game's roster, which is highly unlikely in and of itself.

Good point. Guess we'll find out what they are soon, then. Still would have been cool if other characters had stories, too.

I understand. I wouldn't mind it if we knew that those characters or at least some of those characters were playable, but it doesn't look like that's going to be confirmed. After all, why have a story scenario based on The Last if we don't have a Naruto v. Toneri battle?

I mean, maybe back in Storm 1, it would have been acceptable. Along with the characters that were made support only and some other people that could have made fun characters like Team Oboro, Team Dosu, Yoroi & Misumi, Baki, maybe the Hidden Mist team that was in Cross Roads, etc.

 

But no, apparently, they're some kind of lost gems of the series that need to be rectified and literally nobody else matters.
