Sorry, I was gonna do a vid on this but cba :), feel free to post your own btw,
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS MY OPINION SO THERE'S OBVIOUSLY GONNA BE SOME CONFLICTS BUT ANYWAY WHO CARES
This thread is meant to be read slowly, so please don't just run through to number one. Give them all a listen because my-oh-my Shimomura deserves all the praise she can get, and these are all truly worthy to be listened to. So please sit back, relax, put on your headphones and enjoy
WITHOUT FURTHER ADO...
10. Traverse Town Theme -
Indeed at number 10 we have the Traverse Town Theme, where it all began. This soothing melody certainly creates a lasting impression in the listeners mind. It's certainly a great song to reminisce over. Who doesn't love abit of the sax, eh?
9. All for One -
In my opinion, one of the most underrated tracks in the whole of the series! This whirl of violins surely does get your blood racing and it fits perfectly with the world theme of the Musketeers. A thoroughly deserved ninth place for me.
8. Roxas's Theme -
Stern and solemn, at number 8 gracefully glides the Roxas Theme. One of the most well known pieces in the series, the deep piano keys reveals the undertones of Roxas's misery and pain. While the higher notes also reveal his sadness. Certainly gets the tear ducts working!
7. Darkness of the Unknown -
Apart from maybe Bohemian Rhapsody, I don't think i've ever seen music go under as many transitions as this one. It goes from mysterious super-fast piano keys to daunting and scary then back to kinda drifty and quiet... Very pleasing to the ears..
6. Graceful Assassin -
Blossoming at number 6 is yet another incredibly good track that always has seemed to go unnoticed. It's a shame because I really enjoy it, espiecally the piano keys - they always seem to make me shiver slightly.
5. Forze dell'Oscurita -
I think everything about this song seems to scream - HOLY S#@! When you hear this 100% of the time you're going to think, "Oh god what have I got myself into..." And rightly so, this piece is most certainly a fitting one for such an epic boss. Now we're getting into the Top 5, so we're really getting up there now!
My my, Birth By Sleep really was a badass game, wasn't it? I think this theme literally optimises everything that was cool and dark about KH:BBS. It certainly sends your blood rushing, and while sounding graceful and epic, there's quite a mean-ness to it as well. There's a hint of hope but it seems to slipping away by the pure desperation of trying to escape your fate..
3. Lord of the Castle -
We're into the Top 3 now, so all of the tracks that have made it into here REALLY are effing epic! It was INCREDIBLy tight to pick between these 3 as they are all favourites of mine. Now at number 3 we have Lord of the Castle. I know to A LOT of people, this would've been number one. But of course this is my list and number 3 still is a fantastic achievement. Everything about this track seems to scream EPIC. And it's no surprise because after the slog of a game which was Re:CoM I think everything was feeling (ever so slightly) proud to have reached this far. And hell Angel of Death Marluxia puts up a good fight. This really is a fantastic piece...but it just seems to lack that slight bit of magic that would've made it perfect for me... it's almost too complex with the various instruments playing.
2. Rage Awakened -
In second place comes Rage Awakened, there's quite a few versions of this but for me personally the ReMixed 2.5 version is the best (very close between this and the BbS one) purely because this feels more orchestral and therefore more epic. We can feel the real tension building up here and between 1:09 and 1:31 actually sent me into what can only be described as an orgasm. The buildup is incredible and the feel you get that an old, forgotten hero is rising back is almost unforgettable. In KH3 at some point in the final battle, they HAVE to play this. I BEG OF YOU SQUEENIX I BEG OF YOU...
But now the moment you've all been waiting for at number 1....
1. Vector to the Heavens -
Now for those who have witnessed my other KH Music thread might've saw this coming but... there's nothing else to say. Every single time I play this (which is a lot!) it just takes my breath away and leaves me speechless. The first time I heard it whilst I was playing days, I just sorta flew around for like 10-15 minutes just so I could hear the music. The orchestra is absolutely fantastic! It's so graceful and sad, it is a literal soundtrack of Xion's existance. She's so sad for having to do this Roxas but she knows it's the only way... Wow.. just wow... It connects to me like no other soundtrack can and ever will.
