Scalpers are huge on the rise as of late. I know they've been pushing their greedy asses out there for sometime now, but recently, we're extremely aware of them and we know what they do and why they do it. Today, Gearbox announced Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. Alongside it, they announced a special edition called the Claptrap-in-a-box edition for $400. It comes with all kinds of cool stuff, most notably, a huge scale RC Claptrap that you can control with your smartphone by downloading the ClaptrApp. All 5,000 units are gone and that's thanks to scalpers who are listing these items on ebay for about $600-$1,000. How do we know it's the scalpers? Literally no one wants to pay $400 for a collector's set. The fanbase is terrible for this series. They have no appreciation for anything that is done for the franchise.

Scalpers have also been taking the stage with Nintendo's Amiibo NFC figurine series and almost everything Majora's Mask when it comes to Special Editions.

I don't know about you guys, but I certainly don't appreciate the shady practice that's been trending fairly recently.

All this scalping stuff has gotten annoying with anything Majora's Mask. Hearing about this problem with the Borderlands CEs... even with a low quantity, it's kinda ridiculous.

Although now I wonder why they would even resell the CEs for $600-$1000 if no one was willing to pay $400 for them.

I wonder about it myself. I wonder why scalpers even went for it when the fanbase is completely against it. I want one. Was willing to pay the $400 but it was online only and I don't have that kind of money to drop down on something like that all at once.

I dunno. I mean if I buy something and somebody wants to buy it from me for a pretty large mark up, I'd probably sell it to them. Otherwise I'd be at the cinema wandering how on Earth they can charge £6 for popcorn that's £1 elsewhere.

I think its a bit petty to buy things like Amiibo or videogames just to sell the limited edition ones on for profit to some fan who missed out just because you bought one to sell in the first place.

But at the same time, if I had bought one of the PS4 20th anniversary editions for £400 I believe they were... Would I have put it in Ebay? Yep. Those things were going for literally thousands, that's just too much easy and legal money to not consider.

So hmmm, sometimes I'm against it, sometimes I'm not too bothered. Its not something I would partake in though.

Darn those greedy MC greedy-pants. Just like that nut that bought those Amiibos FOR a stupid reason....
