Let me preface this thread by saying that Kingdom Hearts III is going to have to do a lot to win me over into buying and playing it. What follows this statement are the things that would make me want to buy the game. Thank you for understanding.
Since the release of KH 1.5 and 2.5, I've been stretching my roots back into the foray of Kingdom Hearts. From rewatching cutscenes to re-experiencing some of my favorites, I've begun to notice some things that may lead to Kingdom Hearts III being the best in the series.
1: The Book of Prophecy and Maleficent
Those who have watched through re:coded in 2.5 know the scene where Maleficent states that there exists a book able to create worlds and powers that have yet to exist. Sounds pretty powerful.
And like an ideal back-up plan for Master Xehanort, considering his first attempt to gather the thirteen darknesses failed.
We know a few things about the relationship between Xehanort and Maleficent, namely that Xehanort goaded Maleficent into gathering the seven Princesses of Heart to unlock the way to Kingdom Hearts, only to take the rug out from under her.
Why not try it again?
Maleficent is already looking for the book and it's unlikely that Xehanort (a) doesn't know she's looking for it or (b) doesn't believe it exists. And besides, who could have let her in on the knowledge of such a book?
2: The 7 Guardians of Light
Kingdom Hearts III needs multiple playable characters and we're probably gonna get it, seeing as though almost all main characters will be returning for one final fight. The method how is yet unknown, but we may have an order to go on: Aqua, Ventus, Roxas, Xion and finally Terra. We need Aqua to get into Castle Oblivion to get Ven (not to mention that Mickey knows where she is), we need Ven to get back Roxas, and Roxas will more than likely have the means to get back Xion. Terra should be the last one rescued as part of the grand finale.
Here's my line-up for our seven Guardians:
Sora
Riku
Mickey
Kairi
Aqua
Ventus
Lea
Roxas and Xion get the cut, mainly because I feel that Lea offers more variety and Kairi deserves some time in the light.
3: What about the Former Organization XIII?
We know Xigbar, Xemnas and Saix have sided with Xehanort, but from Xaldin to Axel, there is no other member in his cause. Xemnas has stated that not all the members of the Organization were able to carry Xehanort's will, so they were replaced. We know I-VIII, but nothing past that. Let's examine our members for a second.
Demyx, Number IX. We know he doesn't like fighting. We know he'd rather relax. We know he believes he has a heart. Xehanort's not gonna go for him.
Luxord, Number X. He's tricky. He never seemed to establish that he was growing a heart, that he was a rebel or that he was weak. In fact, he's probably one of the strongest of the bunch. He could honestly go either way
Marluxia, Number XI. Xemnas stated that the rebels were incombatible with his cause. Marluxia being the leader of the Castle Oblivion rebellion, could not make for a vessel of Xehanort.
Larxene, Number XII. As the second-in-command for the Castle Oblivion rebellion, she is also incompatible to be a vessel for Xehanort.
SO what do we do with the remaining members of the Organization? While we may have our seven Guardians, they should still get back-up. Why not have Dilan, Even, Aeleus, Ienzo and the others gather behind Sora as their army? We want to see them again and they surely won't like what Xehanort tried to pull on them before.
4: The 13 Seekers of Darkness
Xehanort has already gathered his team for the battle, and we know a few things for sure:
A) One of Mickey's count for a Guardian of Light is on Xheanort's side.
B) Xigbar, Saix, Xemnas, Ansem, and Young Xehanort are confirmed members
C) All members have a bit of Xehanort in them.
Here's what I think the remaining line-up may be:
7: Terra or Terranort. Xehanort stated that
8: Vanitas. The apprentice of Xehanort himself should rightfully be back, and more than likely, Xehanort found a way to get that piece of him in there.
9: Sora's Heartless from re:coded. This is a stretch, but this Sora is one powerful beast and Xehanort seems like a guy who'd want to have some firepower waiting in the back.
10: Luxord. The only remaining member of the Organization who could go either way should have a place in Xehanort's new scheme. Besides, Xehanort may need time on his side.
11: Master Xehanort before his plunge into darkness (ie. his early years as a Keyblade Master). Why not? We have the farthest back-Xehanort and the most recent, why not the middle?
12: The Riku Replica. Why not? A Riku that Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, said was a much better fit for the darkness could surely make an excellent pawn for Xehanort to use. True, he may not have a Keyblade, but darkness is darkness.
13: Maleficent. She's already found the book for him and we know they have history. Let's pull a twist on the audience and reveal that Maleficent has always been Xehanort's pawn, without her even knowing!
5: Young Xehanort and Master Xehanort's Keyblade
In the new secret ending for re:coded, we are treated to a scene before Young Xehanort and Xigbar steal Saix away for the new Organization XIII. Before that, Young Xehanort talks about Master Xehanort's Keyblade and how it is the most ancient of all Keyblades forged. He almost sounds jealous of his future self that the Master gets it, but not him.
What if Young Xehanort's true intention is to steal Master Xehanort's Keyblade?
Let's face it: betrayal is in the name of the game of Xehanort. Betraying Eraqus, Terra, Ansem the Wise, Riku and Maleficent. Is it truly a stretch to consider that one Xehanort's want of the Keyblade could lead him to betray another.
6: Sora vs. Xehanort: The Final Battle
Going off of what I've said so far, we have our final battle with the Guardians of Light and the former Organization XIII versus Xehanort and the Thirteen Seekers of Darkness. Master Xehanort has the x-Blade at last! But Young Xehanort's temptations have beckoned and he has betrayed Master Xehanort and weakened him! We know who will fight the final battle: it's Sora versus Master Xehanort!
But should it be exactly that?
Personally, it should be Sora and Terra vs. Master Xehanort and the Guardian.
Why not? Terra (to me) feels like the main character before Sora stepped in. He has it out personally for Xehanort. He's got a chance to make it right. Why shouldn't he get a shot in the final battle for all worlds?
Besides, who doesn't want to see a battle with Final Form Sora and the Lingering Will vs No Heart? I do.
