I decided I might as well make a thread for discussing this game and reporting on news, since I get a feeling we'll be getting a lot of that soon.

For those who don't know, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is the first game to be exclusive to Nintendo's New 3DS, and as anyone who's played the Wii version can confirm, will be a game that really needs the hardware boost the new iteration is receiving. It's a port/remake of Xenoblade Chronicles (Or simply Xenoblade in Japan) for the Wii, with a couple new features added.

Speaking of those new features, it's been confirmed that the game will be compatible with the Shulk amiibo! Using the Shulk amiibo with Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will give the player tokens that can be spent to unlock new character models and music tracks in the model viewer and music player features (Both of which are new to the New 3DS version). These tokens can also be unlocked through Streetpass for those who don't have the Shulk amiibo, which explains the Streetpass feature mentioned shortly after the game's North American and European announcement. The game has also received an official North American release date of April 10, while Europe has already had a release date set for April 2.

Is anyone else going to journey to the Bionis again, or possibly for their first time?

  • I saw all the posts in here and thought someone beat me to the news...   A new Iwata Asks interview with Takahashi (The writer for Xenoblade) has been conducted on the subject of Xenoblade Chronicle

  • Alright guys I'm convinced to get this game in April! Thanks again!

  • There's too much struggle involved with these things. I hope Nintendo produces more soon, but with Shulk being a Gamestop exclusive, I get a feeling we won't be as lucky with his amiibo getting repri

That's why I buy my AAA games physically- my Wii U Basic barely gave me enough room for DKR Tropical Freeze digitally, and Xenoblade X is going to be THREE TIMES THAT SIZE DIGITALLY. -____- Games like these make me wonder if developers are in ca-hoots with hard drive manufacturers. :P

On another note, Xenoblade releases today for all you NA NN3DS owners. I hope all your first experiences was as amazing as mine. :D

Ouch, I couldn't imagine having the Wii U Basic without some sort of external harddrive attached to it. I got Wind Waker HD on digital format for free and it was only like 3GB in size which was cool, but yeah Xenoblade X is huge! I think Chronicles 3D is the biggest 3DS game thus far so at least that's not too bad for the system.

I don't mind downloads digitally. For one, it leaves space in the living room especially if you don't have a dedicated place to put games. Second, you don't have to worry about switching or breaking or finding games, since when it's digital, your library sits on your console.

And another point to raise is that with the inclusion of Blu Ray now, one of my disc games takes up as much as a download due to "installation". I'm sure that many other games do it too. I'd be the one to go digitally.

For XC3D, I have.... And I pay the price of 2 hr. downloads.

Have fun with the game, all of you who are getting the 3DS version! :D The journey through the Bionis is a wild adventure, but it's a lot of fun!

Oh, question!

Anyone know how to turn off headgear visibility? Or equipment visibility in general? I like the casts' default outfits.

That's not a feature in this one, sorry. :/ It would definitely be nice if it was, though.

Oh well. As long as they aren't super-mechy they'll do fine (I'll pass on headgear though. For some reason I hate stuff on the head unless it fits the character or is subtle).

There are a few that are kind of mechy, although there aren't many that are over the top. They typically relate to the area you find them in.
