With the recent restructuring of Sega and their emphasis on mobile and PC some thought that Sonic might be relegated to a future on smartphones and tablets. Thankfully, Takashi Iizuka who is the head of Sonic Team, said we should still expect to see Sonic titles on home consoles. The next home console Sonic title was rumoured for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and hopefully the Wii U.

 

 

Personally, I don’t plan to stop Sonic for home-video game consoles. Don’t worry about them! And enjoy!

Well, I'm glad Sonic is getting back on track now. I didn't want it to be on just mobile and PC games anyways.

I think Sonic was in Another Dark Era/Age since Sonic Boom for the wii u is CRAP!!!but the 3DS version need some love tho ohwell

I doubt they would drop the Wii U cuz even back then with Unleashed we had it on Wii too

 

Besides it's gonna be a stab in the back if there was no Wii U version since Sonic came back to Smash 4 when Sakurai could've easily kicked Sonic out just on bad reputation alone

Anyway, if Sonic comes to PS4/Xbox One and is actually developed by Sonic team (And it's not another freakin' Boom!), they've already got my $60. I'll try to support Sega on releasing good Sonic games. They should take a few hints from Hajime Tabata-san.
