Anyone interested in game development?

Posted

I noticed that there are quite a few members on the site that have some sort of knowledge  in game development, Since I've taken a year of game development and am currently in a business and entrepreneurship program i decided to start a team. so to whoever's interested just comment what you would be able to bring to the table(even if someone else has the same skill) and well see what kind of magic we can create.

My personal skills:

Game design

Sound Design (I own a home studio)

Voice over's  (I own a home studio)

understanding of C++(to a certain extent)

Business (Marketing, sales and innovation)

Anyone is welcome to comment and join in, this is mostly to see who would be interested in that sort of thing.

Peace!

I'm interested, however I'm very hesitant and fearful to get into it. ._. Since I'm not in college yet or anything the only skills I have is just guess maybe storytelling, amateur art skills and generally I guess I'm a good idea maker. I have very minor coding skills to.

I have very little experience so far, but this fall I'm gonna start college and I plan to major in game design. So far though I have a little experience of Game design, 3D Design, and C+ (or was it C sharp? I forget. But still I was TERRIBLE at it). But the classes I took of them were so long ago as well >_<

Awesome if a lot of people are interested it'd be a great learning opprotunity for both of you and don't be hard on yourselves everyone starts somewhere

Yeah the college I'm going to did some week-long summer camps where you could learn game design stuff. And the end of each week had an end product we made from what we learned. Most were little games except for 3D Design where we ended with our own 3D crate. But I do think this would be a fun idea to at least try.

It's where I would like to go. My specialties are story development, weapon consept, combat scripting, and the like.

I would love to join in on this, but I am INCREDIBLY busy with school right now and I don't have much I could really offer besides maybe storytelling abd coming up with ideas for gameplay elements. Sorry, I wish I could be more help :(

I'm a learning programmer in C++ and a novice 3D modeler and animator (at 15, yes!). Unreal Engine 4 became free a couple weeks ago, so I'm tampering with its functions. I'd love to be a part of the project!

Just so you guys know even if we don't get enough people to develop something within the site, I'm working on other games so if i ever require your skills I'll be able to get in touch with you. and vice versa if you guys ever need me on a project more than happy to help out.

C# - C sharp, friend! In Unreal Engine 4, you do visual scripting (connecting nodes and such) so pure code isn't too problematic (til optimisation. Whew!)

What type of game do you have in mind is the first question. 2D Platformer? 3D shooter? Adventure or Puzzle game? (Don't mean to burst a bubble, but RPGs especially MMORPGs are HELL for programmers)

whatever you want to contribute is fine and nothings set in stone yet by the time the wheels get rolling who knows

Also, I'm hoping to get a fantastic PC build by mid-late summer, which is way better than my craptop and deskmess now. Like, real high-end stuff. Do you have expectations for graphics?

I know like i said i've taken a year of a game development course, I just want to see how many people with what skill sets would be willing to help out the more people the more ambitious we could go

At the moment i don't have any expectations i'm just kind of scouting people

Whatever game we come up with won't work unless our team is up to the task so it really depends on who we get and what we want to make

*Facepalm* Of course you know! You're more experienced than me! Sorry, a lot of people around me don't know the first thing about computers and I'm really excited to share but I have to simplifiy. Please excuse my excitement.Ready when you are!

No problem and no need to apologise the more of us that are knowledgeable the better

I 'd love to join a game developement team. I'm actually trying to major in video game design. So this seems like a good opportunity to learn how to create video games and such. Though atm I have very little knowledge on how video game design works. So I'm sorry if I'm not much help to you. But that's why I plan to major in it lol.

Awesome and don't worry this is a great first step (knowing the process and having a basic understanding of programming will help you out a lot in your course)

Personally, I'm known for being a pretty-decent Roleplay host, and a great writer (I passed a proficiency in writing even though I could only barely read what I wrote, so after they deciphered it, apparently I did well enough to pass, just for instance of how well I can write when needed). I'm better at fantasy style RPG stories, but I can do just about anything. My writing has improved a lot since I last made a serious plot (Alternate was sort of more for lol's so the plot wasn't really there, and Tirain is VERY old at this point... Even if it is still on-going). I also have huge knowledge of combat, weapons, fighting styles, and choreography, and the like.

On another note, I do have an idea brewed up in my head. I was going to wait until I had a team/people willing to help me preform it instead of trying to start it and getting no-where since I'm poor at coding and modeling(I can do it, but they are FAR from my strengths).

If ever anyone can give me character and level art, I'll translate 'em to 3D.

I right now can do monsters, I'm pretty damn good at animal-esk art, so that won't be a problem, but I am terrible at landscapes and people, never get the proportions or layers right, sorry. I'm primarily good at choreography and story, like I said...

Totally fine! I can do a bit of characters....We just need a level artist.

I'm not a game designer but I am an artist (with a diploma of Management but that means nothing in today's world) so I'd be happy to help out, message me if you want an example of my work!
