I just played it, but I have two main questions that are really bugging me (I have many more but these ones stand out)

 

1. It wasn't clear to me why Sora didn't pass the Mark of Mastery.

 

2. Is Lea part of the seven keyblade wielders of light or is Roxas part of it?

....Sora failed because he fell into Xehanort's plan like a chess piece.

 

And no, just because Lea has a Keyblade doesn't make him a Guardian of Light. Roxas isn't either.

Yeah, basically Sora didn't pass because he fell to darkness. And no Guardians of Light are actually confirmed as of yet, although we can take a pretty good guess as to whom they might be.

To answer question number 1 Riku only passed because he has obtained a new kind of power which is waking Sora's heart from sleep. Sora was in danger that he might sleep forever just like Ventus. But by unlocking the 7sleeping keyholes from Sora's dream that helped him unlock this new power. Sora wasn't able to become a master because he was lead into a trap by Xehanort to make him the 13th new vessel. which he wasn't able to finish the exam because his heart started to sleep.Question number 2 is lea the 7 guardians of light Terra Ventus Aqua Mickey Sora Riku hmmm it could be possible.....

And I assumed Roxas was one cause he was in the opening, but yeah it isn't solid proof.

Yup go for it. And watch it all. It really explains a lot my friend.

It wasn't that Sora failed per se.....Yen Sid even tells them they both did well. It was that Riku went above and beyond to rescue Sora and so Yen Sid chose him.Why they only needed ONE new master makes no sense to me considering the mess they are in. Also they both obtained new powers as witnessed also by Sora entering the RoS in the end to thank the DE.

 

As for Lea or Roxas, we don't know bc the 7 Guardians haven't been confirmed and Nomura told us two things :

 

The opening isn't canon to who they are.

 

They could be anyone including non wielders like Donald and Goofy and will be surprising. Mickey is just guessing candidates in the game
