So, I made a Satus on this last night but since no one has yet to make a full thread I figured I'd do the honors. Since making that status I have come to learn that there is, in fact, a third Digimon Game coming as well so here we go.
This week three new Digimon Games where announced, Digimon Soul Chaser and Digimon Linkz for smartphones, and the next entree in the Digmon World series, Digimon World: Next Order on the PlayStation Vita. Not much is known about Digimon Linkz, but Digimon Soul Chaser seems to be a loose retelling of the original Digimon Adventure. Digimon World: Next Order wil focus on Takuto, a High School senior. Given Japan's education system, this likely makes him 17, the oldest main character in a Digimon game to date. In this world, Digimon seems to be some kind of franchise and Takuto has been a Digimon fan since he was young and was actualy runner-up in a Digimon game copetition in 5th grade. This of course is nothing new in the franchise as Digimon producs have existed in the in-game real worlds since the original Digimon World video game back in 1997. Agumon and Gabumon are also featured in the game and it seems like Machinedramon will play a large role as well. Unlike the preveous three handheld games whose characers where designed by Yasuda, this games characters are done by Taiki. Some fans are speculatng that it looks as though we will, once again, be returning to the Digimon World version of File Island and given that it seems both Agumon and Gabumon are Takuto's partners, we may be seeing Omnimon.
Seeing as Digimon Heroes and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth are both heaeded to North America and Europe, depending on the sales of the latter (the former being F2P) theres a chance we may see these outside of Japan too. Digimon Linkz is coming to Japan later this year and Digimon Soul Chaser and Digimon World: Next Order are set to release in Japan next year so we won't be seeing them for a while either way. Still, given that Cyber Sleuth just released in Japan a few months ago it doesn't seem like Bandai Namco has any intention of slowing down when it comes to Digimon, which is good news for us fans!
