Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King was developed by Level-5, now famous for the Professor Layton series and Yo-Kai Watch. The Nintendo 3DS version, which has a new dungeon and two additional characters is being developed by Cygames, the makers of Rage of Bahamut.
Cygames has been expanding into the console game developer. Earlier this year, they formed a new Osaka based studio focused on developing high end PlayStation 4 titles. Cygames also invested in the PlayStation 4 indie game Airship Q.
