We always assumed it was his mom calling Sora down for Dinner but we never got a official word on that did we? she did say that dinner was ready so its assuedmed she was the one cooking and the mother of the house most of the time cooks. but how do we know it was his mom and not another family member such as a sister who was calling him down for dinner!

And this changes things... how?

Well you I who am Yuya BB means to give all credit to you KeybladeLordSora

HEY! I thought of that first!

I honestly doubt it. The woman in that scene was voiced by Kath Soucie, who voices Danny Phantom's mother, Dexter's mother, the stepmom in The Replacements, a mother in Tom and Jerry, Street Sharks and the Aladdin TV show. Granted she's done a TON of other non-mother related roles, like Shock and Sally in KH1 and 2 and Phiand Lil in Rugrats, but I have always heard her as a mother in shows. And while this is Wikipedia and not confirmed as far as I now, her wiki page does state that she's the voice of "Sora's mother". If it was Sora's sister or other, younger female family member, her voice would have been meant to sound younger.

Because she's the true seeker of darkness!

I'm seeing stars.

Seriously, though. Girls' voices drop earlier than boys' do. It could've been his older sister.

And yet no one talks about the fact she forgot her own son for a year, then had that shattered when KH 2 started, and she remembered her only child was missing, his room deserted or gone, so she had to suffer the knowledge Sora could be dead or simply gone forever until he crapped out of the sky a year and a half later.

I honestly could have done without the condescending Willy Wonka meme. It was unnecessary. I'm just pointing out that usually younger female characters- like a sister, younger or older- usually are voiced by a lighter, younger sounding voice. And by the way, your Vanitas argument doesn't really work since Vanitas is the same height as Ventus and his dialogue("loser, idiot, too slow, pathetic") indicates he is a teenager. In no way could anyone think that Vanitas is an adult b/c his voice is deep, the visual and audio clues lead otherwise. Sora's mother, on the other hand, we do not see and we only hear once. While there's no cues to indicate she is his mother, we also do NOT get any clues she ISN'T.

If there ARE any clues it's in how Sora's mother asked for Sora twice in the span of 2 seconds- not even waiting for Sora to respond. :P

Yeah, you're right, the Willy Wonka meme was a bit much.

But I'm gonna turn that last part back around and say we don't get any clues whether or not it was Sora's mom, so really it's still up in the air for interpretation. (And I really don't see how asking him down twice in a row changes anything.)

gonna go out on a limb and just assume its his mom

Wow, this completely changed my perception of the series.
