FFXV Development Progress (Individual Aspects Megathread)

During the new Active Time Report (ATR) that was shown off at PAX Prime 2015, a few development updates were shared in regards to Final Fantasy XV. The developers outline these specific gameplay aspects in the video and i will attempt to list them all here in this thread for everyone to see. Lets get started. All of the assets shown off in the trailer will be described below with a screenshot for reference

I love that Noctis can use the same kind of weapons that the other party members have. Even though they removed character switching, we still get different types of combat. But it makes me wonder why they said that character switching wasn't a good addition to the game...Isn't the result the same?

They'd have to do chain attacks for each of the character pairs (Gladio X Prompto, for example), the combat would be repetitive (the same stuff we saw for Prompto's TPS shooting has been made for Noct now), the character animations for each and every party member must be refined (now people won't only look at Noctis but everyone), and I'm pretty sure UI elements would have to be adjusted. All in all, if character switching were started and refined on a complete engine since 2012, it would've been added. However, since the engine is not complete (although getting there) it would just be a hindrance to the development time of the game. I'm curious if the addition of Just Cause's technology could be the "breakthrough" Tabata-san was talking about to add seamless warping.

Wow. They have never been this open before. Seeing how an event will announce the release date in March, I predict it will come out between July and December 2016.
