Square Enix has posted the results from the Final Fantasy Survey held via the Final Fantasy Portal App. The top 10 most played Final Fantasy games are as follows.

Important to note FF1 was available for free through the Portal App so this should be expected. X & VII won by a landslide.

Oh Right, my bad I read things wrong

FFIX is a golden game, I loved the medieval setting. Square Enix needs to make another Final Fantasy with this sort of medieval setting again (preferrably not MMORPG).

I sure hope so. I really liked FFX for that reason too - it gave of a nice mix of 'Machines" and "Traditional Religion". (Hard to believe it all got converted to machines powered by the Lifestream/Mako in FFVII)

 

FFXV so far has too many buildings and cars to have a medieval sort of feel to it.

I am fairly surprised that FFIII is more played than FFIV, as IV is talked about a lot more and generally receives more praise. Other than that I would say that most games ranked where I thought they would.

Final Fantasy VIII being by itself on 3# place isn't bad at all. Considering X counts both games and VII counts it's "sequel" and "prequel".
