Recently this week Tabata himself released this statement
"Really?! Where did you hear this? If anything, it is a misunderstanding. There will be no PC port. We never planned for it. The game is originally developed on the PC first and what we said was how the pre-beta works very smoothly on the PC and now optimizations are being made (just like any beta testing would be like) for the consoles. Please do not misunderstand.
IF a PROPER PC version is to be made, then many changes have to be made and a lot of things have to be reconsidered before such a move can be made."
Some people thought this to mean that the PC is never getting FFXV, but I would like to inform anyone who is panicking, and the console fanboys that hate the PC for some reason and PC gamers( even though assholes exist in all walks of life)
All this statement means that their is not going to be PC port near the launch of the console, he is talking about when FFXV launches it will only debut on the consoles, not yet the PC, it only means PC Gamers like myself may have to wait a little while after the console versions before.
This reasoning fits a previous statement
Tabata-san also added that getting to sixty frames per second would be impossible on consoles. With a full open world game, with action-based combat, so many special effects and moving objects and characters, running at 1080p and 60 FPS would require a top PC.
Speaking of PC, Tabata-san mentioned that there’s no current solid plan for a PC version, and that’s because the tuning for a PC game is different from a console game.
At the moment the team is focusing on getting the final game out and tuning it for a TV screen in the living room. The team feels that people have been waiting for the game for a long time, so it’s important to release it as soon as possible.
That said, once the console version will be out, they will want to think about the next step, and they’ll consider a PC version too.
Tabata-san is also very interested in Steam, because it allows to reach a very different demographic from the one offered by consoles, so he’ll be looking at creating opportunities to use the platform in the future.
He has also made similar statement in the past when back in Janurary when he was asked if Final Fantasy Type-0 HD(A game that is currently on Steam I might add, but at the time was only confirmed for Xbox One and PlayStation 4)
When a fan asked about PC version, Tabata was quick to crack a joke about Half-Life 3. “There are currently no plans for a PC version, but I am very interested in Steam. The thing is, I want to know when Valve’s going to release Half-Life 2 Episode 3.”
Now you may be asking why does Square Enix do these things, why do they say they have no plans to release something on the PC, when it is confirmed for the PS4/XboxOne.
Well it's simple people waited over 7 years for FFXV, SE wants to capitalize on that wait, on gamers in general remember PC Gamers like myself can own consoles(The only current gen console I own is the Wii U, and probably the only Next Gen console I will own is the Nintendo NX, but I might buy the PS5 or the Xbox Two).
Square Enix knows that people don't want to wait any longer for FFXV, and if the game is playable 30fps locked, then people even PC Gamers will buy one of the console versions, then when they release a superior version on PC, and get people to buy it on Steam, so basically double dipping in an attempt to maximize profits(Which I guess works somewhat because timed exclusives exist)
To sum it up, it's pretty much, very much, almost confirmed to come to PC, but it will be after the console versions.
