With the year over let's take a look at the sales in Japan for Final Fantasy titles in 2015. Wasn't many releases though. Haha.

All numbers are from Famitsu. From my understanding this does not include digital.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD sold 128,447 copies on PlayStation 4

Final Fantasy Explorers sold an additional 53,383 copies on Nintendo 3DS bringing it to 265,587 copies. Will be interesting to see how it performs in North America & Europe/Australia with the 3DS in likely its last year of being relevant.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster sold 32,922 copies on PlayStation 4.

Only other things to crack the top 381 were FFXIV releases which sold around 55,000 copies combined. Majority for PS4.

So sadly the sales weren't much to brag about. This year will be different though, FFXV, World of Final Fantasy, possible XIII trilogy and possible X-3. All huge for Japan. The hype is real!!!!

Well they didn't release anything noteworthy there. Ummm, XV and WoFF are 2016.

Said next year as in the next year of totals which actually means this year. Lol.

We aren't getting X-3 this year and XIII series on PS4 this year is unlikely.

Probably not for X-3 unless it's been in development for a long time already. XIII series on the other hand is possible. PS3 to PS4 port is extremely easy don't forget. The Uncharted series was ported by Naughty Dog in just over 4 months.

It's been in development since about mid 2014. Naughty Dog didn't port it and it wasn't four months, it was in development long before that. Kitase said a LR port would take about six months and that's before considering XIII and XIII-2. Their line-up is already loaded this year.

Mid 2014? Well XIII-2 and LR were made in less than 2 years don't forget. It really just depends on how big X-3 will be. I know, they outsourced it, but the port was still very quick. I don't know. Maybe XIII is already in development or maybe it's just wishful thinking. I'm just gonna replay the PS3 versions already while I'm waiting.

Yes because Toriyama is an amazing project manager, but they also re-used assets and they had experience with the hardware. They haven't announced it yet and they can't really market it until XV is done. Not really, Blue Point begun work in early 2015 at the latest. They just finished the PC ports so they wouldn't have started it yet.

I'm sure they've got some experience with PS4 by now. The reusing assets things is true, but if X-3 isn't very big it may still be out by late 2016. That'd be a year more than XIII-2 and LR remember. No one knows when Bluepoint actually started, but if that's true then the XIII is still quite possible this year. 2016 just started.

Yes by now. Late 2016? Lol. Again, they haven't announced it. And how the hell do you think they can market it with XV, Deus Ex, WoFF, KH2.8, Nier 2, SaGa, DQXI...there's no room.

Blue Point begun in 2014, it was their next project after TitanFall which released in early 2014. Blue Point revealed in early 2015 that they were working on a collection for a big franchise. This was it.

You've got a point I guess. However they haven't always done exceptional marketing on things so we'll just have to see.

Yes, but I highly doubt it took nearly 2 years to finish Uncharted ports. They probably begun work just before announcing that.

They can't release a major title like X-3 without marketing. They have sooo much stuff coming to PS4 this year they can't fit it in.

It would have took a little over a year. They didn't. Go ask them. They revealed they were working on a big franchise in early 2015 and I seriously doubt they were doing nothing for almost all of 2014. Again, Kitase said six months for an LR and that's the smallest game in the series.

I don't understand the unnecessary jab at the 3DS. If Explorers doesn't sell well that is down to Square Enix and not because the 3DS is going into its 5th year on the market. The 3DS still has many games to offer with arguably the most anticipated one coming in February for a number of American gamers, Fire Emblem Fates.

If Square Enix would actually advertise the game over here then maybe it'd have a chance. The game is out at the end of the month and they aren't even reminding people that it's coming. If it flops it's because Square Enix simply don't give a shit.

Providing context for the title. Late life titles generally don't sell as well. But I do agree, the marketing has been poor.

Good for Final Fantasy. It's good they are making sales. Would be nice if they were higher.

No more hype! The hype is not and should not be real because people overreact and blow it out of proportion and everyone else who has kept cool pays because of hearing those people rant and complain for literally 2 weeks. Trust me, I have seen it on here with D23 Japan. The reason why SQEX producers say to be excited is they know hype will make people become insane and usually never happy and/or satisfied with what is provided. Let that be for the record.
