My dad's leaving AGAIN for the military. We're supposed to be pulling out troops, he said, but he's got to go and help with all of that. I guess it shouldn't surprise me, but it still really bugs me.

 

I thought he'd finally stay home with us. I HATE it when he leaves, and now that our mom isn't here, I can't believe that he'd go again. We'll be staying with our grandparents.

 

My older brother's mad, but he's got college to deal with. My younger brothers don't understand that it's dangerous--they just think it's super cool. But it freaks me out. I mean, he told me not to worry, he shouldn't be doing too much fighting, but I just can't help it.

 

I want him to stay home.

 

I don't want him to leave again.

 

Sorry you had to read all of that, but I just needed to kind of let it out.

Hmm, well my father leaves me all the time. Certainly not military imprtant stuff but, just for other things. Basically, empathy mate.

I hope the best for your dad hopefully he will come back in the next 2 or 3 weeks I wish him the best.

A one week deployment? That'd be a first...

he's usually gone for months at a time.

I think this'll be one of his shorter visits, but he's supposed to be one of the very last to leave. Finishing handing over bases and all of that.

I'm praying he'll realize he should stay with us. Eventually my brothers will grow up some and realize how bad it is for him to be away. How we can't lose our dad, too. He doesn't seem to be thinking about us in any of this

I mean like, since your mom's gone, wouldn't that modivate your dad to stay with you guys even more?

He thinks this is the way to make things better for us. Leaving us with my mom's parents so he can go all "save the world". His mindset is that he'll protect other kids' moms. I've got the same hero complex, but he's got to know it'll make no difference. Even if it does, I really wish he'd stay with me right now.

Violence isn't the answer and also shouldn't his first priority is to help you guys?

Like I said, I'm not sure he think of it that way. When I grow up, I'm going to be in the military, too. But that SHOULD be his first priority. It's not, though. I think he sees us more as someone else's kids, rather than his own.

If he's moving everyone out of Iraq right now this should be one of his last deployments to the middle east, and if he ever had to leave it again it would most likely be in the states, but what do I know I don't live in the US anymore.

Bad part is, we're in war all the time. Also, from what he's told us, we have troops stationed all over the world. Not nessecarily in war with those places, but having a few troops there, anyway. I'm just hoping he'll realize we need him more here than they do over there.

well lexi ill pray for your dad. It would help if i at least had a name so PM me it if its important. On another note my grandfather was a general in the marines. He cought cancer of the brain and lungs in Korea and died four years before i was born. i never got to meet him.
