My Uncovered/Platinum demo thoughts

Posted

With Uncovered done with and the Platinum demo out I thought I'd give my thoughts on both.

I felt with Uncovered that the whole event felt a little I don't know if "forced" is the right word. It was like they built all the excitement about the release date which was good but then they decided to add all of these unnecessary things. Sakaguchi to me looked like he was told to be there or else. Another thing that felt weird was that Nomura wasn't there. I understand he's busy but it felt like an intentional slight. All in all it wasn't bad but not fantastic.

I thought the Platinum demo was also great but something about it felt weird. It felt like Noctis' movements were delayed and he took sometime to attack even holding down the button. The story and graphics were fantastic. I liked it but hope some minor changes are made.

Anyway those are my thoughts. What did you think?

it felt like kingdom hearts to me xD kid rolling around, weapon disappears when your done with it, the big house i do agree that sometimes the attacking felt delayed

I haven't played the demo yet but I got thrilled with the event of yesterday. The CGI movie, the animation series... Tabata built a brand new universe full of life and stories to tell. You can see all these things as unecessary or you can look at it as a way to expand the amazing universe we will start exploring by September. I see it as something huge, a ground breaking project. And after reading the interview above, my respect for what they are doing is just growing more.

About the demo and gameplay point you've talked about... Well, Square has been quite nice with us when it's about feedback. I'm sure they will adjust it if a great amount of fans points it out.

I didn't like the demo as much as Episode Duscae, it was very short and had very little to do compared to Duscae but seeing how the changed the combat was nice but other then that I still like Duscae better

I literally just put down the controller :P. It was good! It's definitely an improvement over episode duscae, the combat is really difficult however, it's nothing like button mashers. I kept dying at the end because I'm so used to just mashing a button until I win on most JRPGS. The graphics were phenomenal and the game runs very smoothly, I don't like how magic has been reduced to throwing bombs though. The combat feels great though, it's just a bit difficult and will take some getting used to I feel.

Yeah hopefully in the full game magic is more in the vein of classic FF.

Yeah, this was mostly just a technical demo to show off weather effects and some gameplay elements like driving cars and controlling animals. Episode Duscae also wasn't free like this demo so you can't expect as much gameplay.

Don't forget the summons that were appearing like dream eaters.

Somehow I think they were making this when 2.8 3D was created.
