Where are all the Kingdom Hearts fan games?

It just strikes me as odd that there's not really a fan game community around this franchise. So far all I've seen has been some sprites and this ambitious attempt.

And it's not like the narrative is so tight that you can't make a game without messing up canon. You can set it before [chi] or in the Realm of Sleep.  You can put in worlds that haven't been seen at all. It's actually a pretty big playground when you think about it. So where they at?

I mean, I've been making one that TheGamersJoint made around three videos on and played the two demos I've put out. The game is being completely redone based on some new skills I've learned, the two new people helping me with assets and coding, and the feedback I got from the last demo.

 

Even these versions of the game are long gone, I'll still post the videos of them (and no, the final game will not be first person, that was for these short demos only)

I'm not really making a Fan Game but more like a Fan Animated Movie, which is also hard to make.

 

I think, it isn't a big as a Community due to not all of the fanbase is into Programing or is interested in making games based on the series.

well most 12 year olds can't program code

 

personally i'm not interested in seeing an unofficial KH related game. same goes for any kind of fan created content for a series. i don't really care what some random person wants to add to a series i like. they can do whatever they want, it's just i'm not the kind of person who would care about their new original fan characters named Rorsa and Kiku.

 

of course it's one thing to write a fanfiction but if you're going to go through all the trouble to program and code an entire game, why not come up with something original? 

 

i guess there's a novelty behind it. making your own video game based on a series you like probably has it's appeal to some.

FFVII: Re-Imagined? 364,416 views, plus write ups on Kotaku, Gamespot, Polygon, etc.

Was I the only one involved in Twilight Soul? It was a 2D Kingdom Hearts MMO from years ago, It was really amazing and had a lot of content. It was made using Eclipse + a lot of custom coding. It was the stuff. I was a moderator on there, I believe, if I wasn't I was a very seasoned member at least. That was years ago. The creators quit the project and took all of their resources with them. I tried taking the project and revitalizing it myself but they refused to hand over their content.

Isn't it a bad idea to name a game after one of the worlds? Googling it generates results mainly about the actual in-game world. I vote for a name change! It'll get the game more attention. :PBeautiful game though.
