Why is it called Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]?

Posted

Every game in the series has had it's title explained:

358/2 Days: The number of days Roxas spent in the organization '/2'= with Xion

Dream Drop Distance: Dream (Dream world) Drop (alternate 'dropping' between Riku and Sora) Distance (they never meet on there journey.)

Chain of Memories = Sora's memorires

Coded: Going inside the data of Jiminy's journal

Birth by Sleep = "So many are waiting for there new beginning, there Birth by Sleep" - Ansem the Wise

KH1/2 = Named after, well - Kingdom Hearts.

1.5/2.5 ReMIX = One of the games prelude KH2 and KH 2.8 with additional content

2.8 Final Chapter Prologue = DDD 2.6, 0.2 BBS, 0 χBC, = 2.8; game before KH3

However for KH χ[Chi], the subtitle in the game has never been explained yet and there is only one final story update to the PC game next month. As we know χ refers to the χ-Blade so do you think the Blade will finally come into play in the final update? It must have great significance and be a big talking point in the story this time around, since it's the main subtitle to a KH game.. but it's just that we haven't seen the Blade yet and it hasn't been mentioned either.

What do you guys think?

well KHending isn't the end of the story, it's just the end of the first season per se. So the X-Blade doesnt necessarily have to come into play just yet. I thought it was self explanatory that was referring to the X-Blade. The moment i heard it was about the keyblade war, I made the connection.

Ummm X-Blade. That's what they're fighting for the light of Kingdom Hearts, and there is only one way to obtain it.

I know, I mentioned the χ-Blade in my post?

Yeah that's what I assumed and yeah you're right, I guess it doesn't have to come into play just yet since Nomura says Unchained χ will branch from the story of χ and will begin a 'Season 2' to the story. It will just seem strange to me if the PC game χ ends in September and we don't see or mention the χ-Blade. :)

the X-blade hasn't been mentioned once in KH X, so while that might be what goes on in the war I don't think that's the point. Is could be the Recusent's Sigil (I can't spell), or have something to do with Luxu and Xehanort, or just have something to do with death since that's what it means. Plus we know what Unchained X's name means, so I think it has something else than the X-blade.

I was pointing out the X-Blade is half the driving force behind the War hence X in the subtitle.

The X-Blade doesn't have to be mentioned, it's synonymous with Kingdom Hearts and inevitably the War for it's control. You want control of the light, you need the X-blade. The X part obviously refers to the players as there clash brings the X-Blade into existence.

That's very interesting to think that the χ could have an entirely different meaning this time rather than the χ-Blade, thanks for that!

Look at this way all the players are being used as in ingredients for the X-Blade, hence Kingdom Hearts X. Except for the Dandelions who will ride out the war in the Realm of Sleep. Those pieces are now free, hence Unchained X.

I just think it would just seem strange though if the χ-Blade isn't mentioned or seen in the entire game before it terminates in September; with it being the main subtitle to a KH game I thought it would have had a bigger impact to the story than what it has. But I guess not...

[chi] = Key

Everyone has a keyblade, does that make sense?

No.

I think the reason is that the Fortellers don't know about the X-Blade yet. It could information that Luxu has on the lost page.

Yeah that's likely the explanation but I would just like some confirmation from the game itself, like the other games have done. It probably is the case like you say but I just feel it needs to be mentioned or seen in the final update to make the subtitle... erm, substantial! xD

Yeah, well, ever since the game was announced, I always thought X referred to the X-Blade, and the time of the Keyblade War, in which the game takes place, so yeah, that's what I figure the subtitle means, ya know?  I'm pretty sure that before the entire story of X/Unchained X/Back Cover is over, we'll get to see the X-Blade! It could probably happen, ya know? :)

Still, for us to have already seen the war and still no mention of the weapon is a bit strange. I'm sticking with it having another meaning or maybe two, one related to the X-blade and another to something else. Also, the hearts are for Kingdom Hearts not the X-blade.

The players are essentially acting as ingredients for the X-Blade. The same as they are in the present time.
