A keyblade wielder doesn't need to have another keyblade/heart to dual wield.

Posted

As you can see here, you don't need a another heart or keyblade to dual wield. They can do something similar to Xemnas's Ethereal Blades but with different elements. I would have shown more but I don't have all the cards that have them but you can check the chi wiki for more, if you can read it/are willing to put up with google translate.

But since this is a thing and the cards are things that happen in the future then maybe this will be something Sora and the others can/will do. I would love it if this is something that can happen in KH3 and it could get around the fact that Ven's heart will go back to Ven's body and Sora will lose the power to dual wield keyblades.

Yeah, but in the video, the Player isn't dual wielding Keyblades. He's wielding a Keyblade and what seems to be an ethereal blade. If one must dual wield two Keyblades (both wielding and summoning the Keyblades), s/he must have two Keyblade wielders' hearts, as with the case of Sora and Roxas who both have/had Ventus' hearts.

Now we can go around this by simply having one giving his/her Keyblade to someone else physically, an example being when Sora takes Riku's Keyblade and dual wields against Xemnas.

I said the player isn't dual wielding keyblades or has two hearts or has to to dual wield.

Oops. Sorry, my mistake. I misread that.

It's cool.

The whole concept of dual-wielding in this series focuses on Keyblades, though. Even if you make a point to say that the player isn't dual-wielding Keyblades, it's still missing the point. I mean, we've had dual-wielding outside of Keyblades before. That Heartless in the video can dual-wield swords, Xigbar can dual-wield his guns, Xemnas can dual-wield his Ethereal Blades, etc. All this thread has shown is that Chi lets you imitate Xemnas' attack, which people who didn't play Chi may not have known.

That's the point I'm trying to break. A keyblade wielder shouldn't have to have another keyblade for it to count as dual wielding and I don't like the fact that people have labeled this as the only way they can dual wield just because two people have done it. Last time I've checked Xemnas has never used a keyblade and doesn't use any elemental attacks other than his own. The point is keyblade wielders could/can dual wield the keyblade with something else and the cards, which are canon and apart of the future, proves that it's possible.

Maybe it's like that because using two Keyblades at once is so rare (Axel: TWO?!), while on the other hand, guys who already technically dual wield like Xemnas and Xiggy have weapons that generally have to be in pairs. Like, it'd be weird if Xigbar only had one arrowgun, or if Xemnas only had on ethereal blade. So maybe we should make some distinction between dual wielding similar weapons and dual wielding different weapons, at least in regards to Keyblades.

As for dual wielding different weapons, I think it'd be cool to have Lea use some sort of Keyblade/chakram combo when he's not just using both chakrams.

Keep in mind when his takes place. This is KHχ and it takes place BEFORE the Keyblade War. Seeing as how destructive the war was, maybe we are seeing how strong Keyblade wielded were before the war.

If you actually pay attention and look more closely you'll see that it's NOT another Keyblade but just a conjured up blade of ethereal light. It's similar to how Xemnas's Ethereal Blades work, only instead of just having two of them you're summoning just one for your free hand while your Keyblade is coated in a similar aura. This is nothing new either, we've seen Ven switch his Keyblade out for 6 blades of light when he uses his Wingblade style change and Riku is able to switch his Soul eater out for two large blades of dark energy that combine into a huge one when he uses his Dark Maelstrom duel sleight in Re:CoM. And since Young Xehanort and Xemnas both supposedly have the ability to wield Keyblades at will (keep in mind that supposedly YX had not gained his Keyblade before that boss fight and Nomura has suggested that Xemnas chooses not to wield a Keyblade), it stands to reason that they could potentially summon one of their ethereal blades out of their free hands at the same time as well, if they should choose to.

Point is that this is not necessarily another Keyblade, it's just a blade of light that you can summon with your free hand in order to execute dual-wielding attacks. Now that doesn't mean that it can't apply to Sora in KH3......And I just realized that you already came to that conclusion and never once suggested that that was another Keyblade....my mistake.  :P

lol, no problem because I was about to do the something. Now the difference between what they have done in the past and this is the fact that they switch their keyblades or swords for a different weapon instead of keeping it and just summoning another one in the other hand, which I feel it would be more powerful to keep the keyblade and since it's the "only" why to kill heartless, but maybe that's just me. And what you said about Xemnas is something that I want to happen in KH3.

Yeah and we are the weak ones, I can't imagine how strong the MoM is.

I'd certainly be up for seeing Sora using ethereal blades for some of his drive forms, lol. X3"

Also, not as relevant, but it might also be possible to temporarily dual wield if a Keyblade is given to another wielder willingly. Like during one of the Reaction Commands against Xemnas in KH2, Riku grabs hold of Sora's Keyblade for a brief second before tossing it back to him. He also hands Kairi's Keyblade to her, though I'm not sure if he's still holding onto his own Keyblade while doing so. Point is that while you probably can't have a full duration of fighting with somebody else's Keyblade, you could probably "borrow" it for a few seconds before returning it. I'm sure there are lots of ways around this sort of thing.

Yeah it's a thing, in the Session limit command Sora takes Riku's keyblade and then Riku takes Sora's. I also would think it would be cool if a keyblade transformation was that it splits into two katanas.

I don't really get what your point is tbh xD I can dual wield too, by your definition.

But when fans talk about dual wielding they mean 2 Keyblades. Thought that was clear.

But everyone can dual wield with blades or anything. Dual wielding Keyblades is special though.

Not everyone has a keyblade and can dual wield with two keyblades, but no one has done this. They have used two blades before but they switch out their keyblade in the process, so they aren't dual wielding with the keyblade.

Wait, when does that happen in Session? I could have sworn they were using their proper blades the whole time.

The blades become engulfed in light but you can still kind of see them if you pause spam or you could watch the opening for 3D, they do it when they fight Xemnas.

Huh, I'm going to have check for that, cause if that's the case they don't make it that obvious. Part of me just wants to write it off as them just swinging them around so much that you just lose track of who's wielding what.
