I love shounen. I like seeing people fight each other to save the universe and to save their friends. I like long stories because it's fun to look back on the first chapters/episodes.
Shounen is nice and easy to get into, it's something that you don't have to constantly focus on. Most shounen are quite simplistic , you can just put your feet up and watch a bunch of people smack each other around. It's fun to watch
In every form of entertainment, you have the simple stuff and the complex stuff, manga is no different.
In music you have songs for parties that are loud and intimidating, and then you have songs with really complex lyrics that you'd listen to alone.
It's the yin and the yang, sometimes you want to see a bunch of fights and explosions and crazy stuff, other times you want a complex story.
Some shounen do a phenomenal job of pulling off both a complex story and a simplistic one all at once, Hunter x Hunter 2011, One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho can do both .
