The virtual machines such as Kaiba's Duel Disk do, but from what I've seen, the Shadow Realm doesn't.

If Yugi wanted in, he should've switched to Yami Yugi.

The duel disk made holograms, but the shadow realm literally brought them to life. As in they could actually hurt and kill you.
