Spoilers for the end of Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]:

 

 

A lot of people, including me, have been making theories about what the KH χ Special Episode means.  It seems like all of us assume that Season 2 takes place after the end of KH χ.  However, what if it doesn't take place after the end of the game, but before the end of the game?

 

It seems odd to me that Square would make the entire ending of KH χ just a dream, especially because of how much was revealed at the end of it, not to mention the fact that we finally got to see the Keyblade War.  However, if it wasn't a dream, and the Player is in "unchained", it doesn't make sense for more story revolved around the foretellers to take place, as it looks like there will be with the new announcement for Season 2, since they should all be gone (or at least they shouldn't be in "unchained", since they all fought in the Keyblade War).  Basically, no matter what, the theory that Season 2 takes place after the end of KH χ doesn't make sense no matter what way you look at it (at least to me).

 

I think it makes way more sense for Season 2 to take place before the end of KH χ for a few reasons:
 

(1.) Chirithy seems completely oblivious of the events that happened at the end of KH χ.

(2.) In "unchained", the Dandelions are supposed to relive their past missions.  So, it would not make sense to introduce completely new ones that not only take you to worlds you never visited, but also tells new stories in which you interact with the foretellers (or at least Invi).

(3.) Near the end of KH χ, the story suddenly jumps to a few months later.  Square could fit all (or most) of Season 2 in that time frame.

(4.) Season 2 has gotten a release date, but to my knowledge, the end of KH χ has not.

 

So, after looking at all of these points, I think that our Player is going to start having dreams about the future, but we won't experience it until Season 2 is over (or until it is almost over).  But those are just my thoughts.  What do you guys think?

This is very interesting, and it could prove true that Season 2 could definitely be before the end of X's Keyblade War finale!  It would make sense!  We'll just have to wait and see!  It could be that our player had all these dreams, and maybe he/she tries to warn the Foretellers about what's to transpire, but he/she doesn't get the chance, and the Keyblade War ends up happening anyway, ya know?

I think that Back Cover will answer a lot of questions, just not necessarily about Season 2.  However, it is an hour long movie, and since we haven't seen much of them in KH χ, it could also cover stuff from Season 2.  We won't know until we see it.

Ohhh, so that's what the info on Unchained X was referring to!  Since it was showing Skuld and whatnot, I thought it was mentioning that we'd meet Skuld at that time!

 

Oooh, but then that means that in the Japanese version of Unchained X, Season 2 will begin!  Excellent!

There are a lot of uncertainties now. The "unchained" thing where supposingly the Dandelions repeat everything in Unchained χ, that's not confirmed and personally I don't think it's true. There's also this possibility here that Season 2 takes place before the end of χ[chi].

 

We're also assuming that the three new worlds coming to Unchained χ are part of Season 2. What if it's not? What if Unchained χ is basically a remake of χ[chi] with some additional contents like the new worlds? So Season 2 is not confirmed to be releasing in January 2017. What we know now is that Skuld and the Foretellers will be introduced starting January 2017 and will then be followed by Castle of Dreams, according to the letter from the development team (but there's no mention of the other two worlds).

 

I believe χ Back Cover will explain most of the things because if those things were already explained in χ[chi] and Unchained χ, there would be no use for χ Back Cover. The story told from the perspective of the Foretellers (and possibly Ephemer and Skuld) will make it much clearer.

You may have a point.  I decided to look over Nomura's comment again, and he does not say when Season 2 will begin.  What he says is, "The other is a big development regarding the story.  The start of season two is still some way off, but the events leading up to it will begin as main story.  And, to go with that work on three new worlds has already begun.  The third will be a new world starting from season two, and it will be a new Disney world that has not appeared in the KH series so far."

 

Now that my head is a little clearer, I think that if Castle of Dreams was part of Season 2, he would have made it known when the announcement of the world was made.  He also said that main story will lead up to Season 2, but he did not say that those events will be the Keyblade War, like we saw in KH X.  In fact, this seems to imply that new main story will be added other than what KH X had that will build up to Season 2, but is not included in Season 2.  Finally, it seems like he is saying that Season 2 will begin with a new world that has not appeared in any KH game so far.  So, since only Castle of Dreams has been announced as a new world (unless they are just keeping the others a secret), it seems more and more possible that it is actually not a part of Season 2.

 

So, the more I think about it, the more I think you may be right.  That being said, I still think that Season 2 has a possibility of starting before the Keyblade War and the other events that ended KH X.  I still think that it does not make sense otherwise (as of right now, that is).

I may be wrong. It's just that many things do not have confirmations now and we lack a lot of information. But that's the way I see it though and I'm not really fond of the "unchained" theory. I don't know why but it just seems unlikely. As for the Season 2, it's just too mysterious now for me to even stick with a certain theory. If the new worlds are part of Season 2, then Season 2 takes place before the end of χ[chi], or at least starting before it and then continuing on after the War.

 

Answers should be provided towards the end of the year when χ Back Cover comes out. If not, then we have no choice but to wait for the story advances in Unchained χ. That would be a torture to us.  :wacko:
