Dream Drop Distance models found in Birth by Sleep Final Mix

Unexpectedly, files have been found inside Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix which appear to be from the demo of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. These files, which are models of various characters as well as the logo of the demo, were found inside Birth by Sleep Final Mix's data. Thanks to the community at XeNTaX who discovered this, as well as user "Key to Truth", who created screenshots of models, samples of this can be seen below.

Apparently, Twilight Thorn was also found, adding to the view that these are remnants of the earlier Kingdom Hearts 3D demo shown at E3 2010. As the files remain in Birth by Sleep Final Mix's game data, yet did not appear in the final version of the game, it is implied that at some point, Square Enix may have intended to include a playable Kingdom Hearts 3D demo in Birth by Sleep Final Mix, yet the idea was scraped.

However, the inclusion of both Xehanort's Heartless' and Xemnas' models, who both appeared in the 2011 Trailer of Dream Drop Distance but not in the E3 2010 demo, suggests that either a completely new demo was planned to be included, or simply that Square Enix is using the Birth by Sleep engine to render Dream Drop Distance trailers.

Although it is unknown why these files are included in the game's data when they do not appear in the game itself, it is not unusual. Similar occurrences have happened in the past, where Toy Story character models were found in Kingdom Hearts II, sprites from an unnamed Pinocchio world were found in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, and maps of a The Jungle Book world were found in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. All of these ideas were eventually scraped.

wow, I'm shocked......I like a lot these kind of things. How did they/you find this?

Poor Kairi, she looks like cheese D: but this really shocked me and it does seem like they used BBSFM to help kinda see where they were going with this and how it looked so far. I wish they would have kept a demo in there, even if the idea was scraped, they could have left it to give us some sort of a feel for Dream Drop Distance.

Sweet. I'm just in high hopes that the finalized visuals of DDD will surpass those of BBS.

Wtf is wrong with Kairi? she looks like Kairi from COM, you know, incomplete. (what type of person remembers worlds as blocks??? REALLY?)

Anyway, that weird, soul eater-Wooden sword thing creeped me out the most. Hope that's a new weapon(lolwut)

were they trying to make the PSP 3d? cuz, just look at that. the demo logo looks like it was made to be tested.

It doesn't make sense inside my little head...

But they DID use Ansem SoD and Xemnas's sprites on the secret ending, so there's an explanation.

They also used Sora, Riku and Kairi in the secret ending.

It just goes to show, that Final Mix's always hide secret stuff... Or secret endings.

For example, in Kingdom Hearts 1 Final Mix, you get the Xemnas battle. Not in the regular Kingdom Hearts 1.

Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix has the Halloween Town, Christmas, costume. Kingdom Hearts 2 doesn't.

Pretty cool. Sora and Riku look pretty nice, but Xehanort's Heartless's mouth, Kairi's... everything, and Riku's weapon look creepy. *cringes in fear*

Second? There's something more pedophilic then commenting on that?

Kairi scares me, she looks like a Kairi model, with Nomura basing her on Tetris

Lol, it kinda looks like Sora has only one shoe. I think I'm gonna have nightmares from this.

I think they just used BBS to start on the character models and import them into 3D when theywere ready. It saves time and they dont have to start from scratch when using the new engine
