  1. I will, starting again January 2nd i've been busying but planning to do it again. My pick for December would be 5th- STUMPTOWN, VOL. 2 #4 Story by Greg Rucka Art by Matthew Southworth Colors by Rico Renzi Cover by Matthew Southworth Why the issue are the best of the week: This issue did what few comics can do well a car chase, pulling off trick that Batman #5 did where you had to turn your book according to the action on the page but it is pulled off better here. It continues to be fun ride and great p.i story written by Rucka and best looking issue by Southworth on this series. Dec 12th: CONAN THE BARBARIAN #11 Writer: Brian Wood Artist: Declan Shalvey Colorist: Dave Stewart Cover Artist: Massimo Carnevale Dec 19th: Saga #8 & Hawkeye #6 Story by Brian K. Vaughan Art by Fiona Staples Cover by Fiona Staples Such a great series it's not even fair to rest of the other comics on the stands Story by Matt Fraction Art by David Aja Colors by Matt Hollingsworth Cover by David Aja Fraction and Aja deliver the best holiday special comic of the year and is becoming the best new Marvel comic when Aja is on art.
  2. I liked the issue, it presented an interesting idea and i hope it has good stories that come from it. Peter will be back as spider-man but it is the story of him being spidey again that makes it interesting.

  11. http://ca.ign.com/articles/2012/12/03/vertigos-executive-editor-to-step-down?abthid=50bd1b75b96729f359000046 http://ifanboy.com/articles/karen-berger-steps-down-from-vertigo-comics/ "More changes are afoot at DC's mature-readers imprint, Vertigo Comics, as longtime Executive Editor and Senior Vice President Karen Berger is stepping down after almost 20 years of spearheading arguably the industry's most progressive comic book imprint. Berger began her career at DC Comics as an editor on books like House of Mystery and Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, which eventually led to her shepherding of Neil Gaiman's Sandman and the birth of Vertigo Comics in 1993." In her 33 years at DC she help deliver such classics as Y: The Last Man, Preacher, Hellblazer, We3, American Vampire, V for Vendetta, 100 Bullets, Fables, Scalped, Transmetropolitan and some many others. "Berger's influence on the growth of comics industry is insurmountable, but she's leaving in pursuit of new opportunities. DC says that she'll be staying on board until March 2013 to help the transition to new leadership go smoothly. Though not named, DC says that the new team will consist of "veteran staffers."" "I've been incredibly proud to have provided a home where writers and artists could create progressive and provocative stories that broadened the scope of comics, attracting a new and diverse readership to graphic storytelling," said Berger. "I'd like to thank all the many immensely talented creators who have helped make Vertigo into a daring and distinctive imprint and I’m grateful to everyone at DC Entertainment and the retail community for their support and commitment to Vertigo all these years. It’s been quite an honor." "DC also said that they'll be planning a celebration of Berger's 33 years at the company next year." "While Vertigo has seen a decrease in ongoing series as of late -- their longest-running title, Hellblazer, was recently cancelled -- the publisher seems to be increasing output on their limited series, adding to the nearly 300 new properties that Vertigo has ushered in since its inception. A Sandman prequel series by Neil Gaiman and J.H. Williams III is expected next year though, alongside a slew of new mini-series from Vertigo alumni like Scott Snyder and Jeff Lemire." She's one of the most important people in modern comics
  12. The Pick for Nov 28th: AMERICAN VAMPIRE #33 Written by Scott Snyder Art by Rafael Albuquerque Colors: Dave McCaig Cover by Rafael Albuquerque Spoilers With this issue being the final part to the Blacklist and second last issue before it’s year long hiatus, the team on American Vampire ended on bang as well as change in status quo. For those who don’t know what American Vampire is about an easy way of describing it is vampires mixed in with American history but it’s much more than that. American Vampire has been like Locke and Key one of my favourite ongoing comics. Scott Snyder known for his work on Batman and Swamp Thing in New 52 has been crafting this story with Albuquerque before he became such a big name in comics industry. What’s great about American Vampire is that Snyder is working with his own creations where he can do whatever he wants and isn’t restricted like this issue shows featuring a death of major character. This issue you get fight between Pearl and Hattie where Hattie has been villain of this arc, her motivations make sense even if you don’t agree with them. It is nice to see all ties to the first arc of the series displayed though Pearl and Hattie talking to each other. The reveal in this issue while I figure it would happen I was still surprised hoping that maybe the character would make it out and it does give you a shed of hope just to take it away. It ties in the elements to WW2 arc of the series and ongoing question in Pearl and Henry relationship. While you knew this would eventually happen it doesn’t take away for the impact or the way it still feels like gut punch which is a great thing. The last couple of pages build up to the future of American Vampire and last page is excellent and wrapping up the main character relationship in wonderful but depressing way which is just great writing on Snyder’s part. Rafeal Albuquerque delivers one of his best issues in the series as well does Dave McCaig. The one thing that bothers me on American Vampire is when Rafeal isn’t artist on the series but for this arc he did all of the issues and it shows how well him and Snyder work together displays why these two should always work on American Vampire together. The way Albuquerque draws the emotions of the characters really sells the impact of the scenes. When Henry and Pearl met each other the scene works so well and emotion on Pearl face in final panel is just heartbreaking heck that whole page is heartbreaking. The way aftermath of that scene is handled is great to look which give credit to Albuquerque who draws every panel constantly and looks truly great never missing the beat Snyder gives him. With a beautiful one page spread capturing the all character emotions perfectly and scene itself. As great as fighting scenes and way he handles the death. The last 5 pages are truly a standout for me. The background coloring looks great with very vibrant colors that make characters standout as well fit the mood of the story. Which is what only great thing is about hiatus is that he’s going to able to draw more of the series. With American Vampire one issue away from going on hiatus the series has been changing up its status quo and has put the series into very interesting place. This has been one of my favourite arcs to the story and every character is now in a new surrounding each should make when it returns all the more special.
  13. How the Grinch the stole Christmas is my favourite but Mickey's Christmas Carol and Winnie the pooh and Christmas too are nice and sweet For movies: It's Wonderful Life, Holiday Inn, White Christmas and the original Miracle on 34th street but two underrated ones are Small One http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGa6oCxhpZA and The little match girl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUSzQBaWq0Q

  20. The Pick for Nov 21st: THE ROCKETEER: CARGO OF DOOM #4 Story by Mark Waid Art by Chris Samnee Cover: Minor Spoilers This was hard one to deicide, I had six comics that I felt could have picked including Amazing Spider-man #698 (with has very interesting cliff-hanger) and first issues of Hulk and Comeback but out of all these comics none of them looked as beautiful as what Samnee and Bellaire are doing on The Rocketeer. For the Rocketeer all you need to know is that Cliff is a pilot and has a jetpack which led to him being superhero in 1920’s. While I wouldn’t tell you start at this issue but when hardcover comes out in February you should check it out. What makes this series stand out is just how much fun it really is by having plans of dinosaurs in jetpacks to one getting its head blow off you can’t help not having fun reading it and enjoy just how silly plot is. While the Rocketeer is off fighting dinosaurs in very amusing fashion it still ties together with the sub-plot between Cliff and Betty giving them very sweet ending. The writing is nice and light with clever jokes that don’t manage to take way from the story itself. While the plot is silly which isn’t bad thing it’s actually very refreshing and fun to read and has its hero being a hero which is what more superhero comics should be. The only thing bugs me about the story is that it ends on cliff-hanger but if it means that were getting more of these two on The Rocketeer that would be great, it’s just not going to happen any time soon. So why this comic stood out above the others this week is Samnee's art which brings very cartoony style that’s easy to follow what’s going on but has great level of depth to it. It's very clean style and gives off very retro vibe which fits perfectly for this series. He’s also one of the best artists at panel to panel storytelling where you’re never confused what’s going on in the pages which in a comic like this where there’s tons of action going on in the page to need very fliud style. The facial expressions are fantastic and with his style really do great job giving the comic an old time vibe. What really makes Samnee work stand out is Jordie Bellaire on colors (who’s is one of the best at what she does) that really make his art pop giving it something that Samnee work on Daredevil doesn’t have. The sound effects are nice touch and second last page capturing the scene perfectly making for one nicest looking pages of the week. The Rocketeer: Cargo of Doom is at end of the day may be the best Rocketeer story and one of the more enjoyable superhero stories to come along with year. Waid and Samnee are great team together and I hope down the line they get another Rocketeer series to work on.
  21. I enjoyed the movie a lot but i feel like got nothing more to add. The short before Paperman was simply amazing and had to be one of the best animated shorts watched in long time and hope it wins the Oscar for best animated short as well.
