  1. But, unlike Kefka, they CAN understand love and can find meaning on their own through the hearts of one another and the people who they've met in their travels. Even if the universe might not be geared towards it, they can still find a world worth living in. And that's kind of what's tragic about Kefka: he's a broken man on fire who, in the end, is the only true victim of his own nihilism, and the one thing that he couldn't destroy is the one thing he never understood or...
  2. he can see, more clearly than anyone else, that there is no point, no future, and that the buck stops here. Thus, he is even further detached from humanity on a whole new level. But all of this adds up to what makes him a good villain, in my mind; he acts as a perfect foil for the heroes. Each of the main characters experiences some kind of irreversible loss or tragedy in their lives, and each of them is faced with a world that is dying around them that appears to be devoid of meaning. But, u...
  3. there is nothing but a tombstone at the end of all things. It's what makes his rise to power as god so bizarre: the ability to control the life and future of the world is given to the one person who is probably least qualified for the job (which is kind of what a lot of early comedy and clowns stem from: emulating kings and nobles while still being tragically not truly up to the task). And becoming a god further compounds what Kefka already believed; now that he is the end-all and be-all,...
  4. which drives his madness: the absence of and inability to understand the idea of love, or of caring about another human being. Kefka has seen the end of the tunnel: he knows that there's nothing waiting for anyone other than death, and it makes him mad that no one else can understand that. Thus, he wants to try and show everyone just how empty their lives are, so that they can be as miserable as he is, in a way. It's kind of why he likes killing so much: it proves his point that ther...
  5. One of the main reasons I like Kefka as a villain is how he actually has an arc of his own within the game. He starts as a relatively lower ranking baddy, and we get to watch as he makes himself more indispensable to Emperor Ghestalt at the expense of General Leo and Celes to the point where he is the one at the Emperor's side when they find the Magic Triad. Yet, he is never treated with the same level of respect or love that Leo or Celes is, which kind of helps fuel one of the things whi...
  6. Different strokes for different folks. 6 is still my fave of all time.
  7. I'm tired of society trying to force air on me.
  8. I think our reliance on lungs is a weakness. My New Years resolution is to stop relying so much on my lungs.
  9. I also strongly recommend against making Anor Londo go dark until near the end of the game, because Anor Londo in the day is one of the best grinding spots, especially once you get the Covetous Silver Serpent Ring.
  10. Would anyone else want to see a TF2 rpg?
  11. Happy new years from Canada!
  12. Also, defeating Ornstein last is probably the trickier option of the two, so if you're looking to just get through the boss and proceed with the game, it's not a bad idea to take whatever you can get when it comes to the world's greatest tag team.
  13. Well, the beauty of Dark Souls is that it does lend itself to a lot of replay value in order to try and get all the cool stuff. There is a New Game + mode after you beat the game, so you will have another chance to have a go at the dynamic duo!
  14. You can actually get Smough's proper armor. Depending on which of the duo you defeat last, Donoval will sell their armor set to you. (Also, you will get either the soul of Ornstien or Smough based on who you defeat last).
  15. Ornstien's armor is pretty dope, for sure. I liked getting Smough's set, because I like playing Strength builds, and because the super defense and poise of his armor comes in handy for tanking bosses.
  16. Woo hoo! How did you like the Smough and Ornstien fight? It's one of my favs in the game.
  17. Come back from holidays to find TFS Ep. 51 and two more From The Dark episodes from EpicNameBro. Great Christmas present!
  18. Off to Florida for the holidays. I'll check in now and again, but until then, Merry Christmas!
  19. Wait, were all of the critical topics deleted?
  20. Everyone is talking about Star Wars, and I'm just here like, "I think I'll watch Return of the King again."
  21. I'm salty because none of the characters added interest me, when I know that there were options I would have found preferable.
  22. I guess I'm more annoyed that things which mattered from my childhood don't mean anything to anyone else in a contemporary time.
  23. Does anyone know if Arkham Knight on PC is actually playable yet? I mean, without the bugs and other game breaking things?
