One of the things I learned is that people are more likely to judge you negatively when they don't know the real you. Once people knew the real me I gained a lot of respect. I even have 6th graders and other younger people who look up to me and are happy to see me (I'm a junior). Pretty much just get yourself out there, don't be afraid to show people the real you. Do this by joining groups that fit your interests, inside and out of school. Also don't be afraid to experiment with things expand your horizons, you will get a lot out of it. I know you said you didn't need comfort but I'll just say this (which you may already know). Rejection is everywhere and its a part of life so you can't beat yourself up about it. Plus the way he rejected you like that, I can tell he wasn't for you, he could have been much more kind but he decided to make a d**k move by doing that, just be thankful you're not with a guy like that.

If you honestly feel like the relationship can work, then you should go out with her. If you're dead set on not being with her tell her straight up that you're not interested, BUT DON'T BE A D**K ABOUT IT! Just politely tell her that you're not interested in her that way and that she better off with another guy. Be honest no matter how hard it may seem. Girls like honesty and she should respect your decision.
